The Chicago Bears organization, and their fans, believed the team's offense was on track after finishing the 2013 season No. 2 in points scored the team spent the spring and summer concentrating on improving one of the NFL's worst defenses.
After signing defensive linemen Lamarr Houston and Jared Allen and drafting cornerback Kyle Fuller with the No. 20 pick in the first round fans looked forward to 2014 as the season the team would have enough talent to make a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
