Demaryius Thomas Has A Tough Decision To Make

The Denver Broncos season is officially over after being eliminated from the playoffs by the Indianapolis Colts. Now the Broncos must turn to the offseason, which very well could change the whole course of the team. Two of the Broncos key offensive players will become free agents; pro bowl wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and pro bowl tight end Julius Thomas. Not to mention the speculation of quarterback Peyton Manning retiring. If Peyton decides to retire the Broncos as a team could be changed since they currently don’t have a quarterback on the team to replace Manning and the upcoming free agent market for quarterbacks is rather slim.

But back to Demaryius Thomas, he has a tough choice to make. He could resign with the Broncos or he could go test the free agent market as one of the top free agent wide receiver available. The other top free agent wide receivers consist of Dallas Cowboys’ Dez Bryant and Green Bay’s Randall Cobb. The Denver Broncos would more than likely use the franchise tag on Thomas if he would not resign the new contract the Broncos offer him, but there is a chance he doesn’t get the franchise tag. The Broncos could use the franchise tag on Julius Thomas, thinking Demaryius would no doubt come back to the team. Thomas might want to wait to see what Peyton Manning decides to do; if Peyton retires it might be a wise choice for Thomas to go to a better team with a reliable quarterback. If Thomas waits too long though, he could really cost him a lot of money and a team. Let’s say a team offers Thomas a contract, but Thomas waits to see if Manning is coming back and that other team goes on to sign another wide receiver instead of waiting for Thomas. Which then they retract the contract offer to Thomas.

Demaryius Thomas has a lot of thinking to do between now and when free agency starts. You could say Thomas’ future all depends on what Manning decides to do. Thomas better think long and hard about what to do, but he better not wait too long though.
