Jacksonville Jaguars: Top 3 Free Agents To Target This Offseason
I was told a number of years ago that NFL free agency was used to find starters and the NFL Draft was used to find quality depth for a franchise. Somehow, I think those two roles have been reversed for many teams as the need to get younger, faster and stronger has become the battle cry for so many general managers. With the goal of making the playoffs the reason teams play 16 games, go through training camp, study game film and work to be the best, now more than ever, there cannot be errors in the free agent or draft process.
Finding the right player to fit needs, provide a spark and most of all, win, is crucial to success.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have done well the past two seasons of finding solid draft picks to provide depth and start on both offense and defense. Free agency has not been as profitable, but it has brought in Sen’Derrick Marks, Zane Beadles and Chris Clemons. This upcoming off season will be vital for the team to take the next step in its climb out of the cellar of the AFC South.
Jacksonville has needs all across the board with the exception of quarterback. The offensive line is still a work in progress and the running game must stabilize if Blake Bortles is going to settle in as the team’s leader and the franchise signal caller they hope he can be. In order to do that, more starters are needed on the roster so rookies do not have to come in green and learn on the fly.
Here is a look at three free agents this team must target to improve the roster and take the next step forward.
