Super Bowl 2015: Five Reasons To Root For The Patriots

There is no doubt that Tom Brady is one of the greatest QBs of all time. Say what you will about controversies over video tapes and footballs, Brady has thrown the rock with alarming accuracy. At the end of the day, the football still has to travel through the air from the hand of one man to the fingertips of another.

And this is why the game of football is the greatest game on the planet, because those who excel are truly amazing athletes. And given that the Patriots selected Brady with the 199th pick in the 2000 draft, it says even more about the excellence of an organization that has remained at the top of the heap for 15 years.

This is why we should root for the New England Patriots.

1. Tom Brady...

Like I said, his accuracy and poise are without question. You just can't teach what he brings to the table. He did it at Michigan, despite QB controversy, and he continues to excel at the professional level. Brady has broken and now holds several post-season records and has the chance to add a huge bonus: his fourth ring.

2. Rob Gronkowski...

The best tight end in football has the opportunity to add a ring to his growing resume. He is a nghtmare to defend, and helps to stretch the field from the end of the line of scrimmage, or split wide. Gronk also completed a rarity for his short career: a full, healthy season. Guys like him make a QB look even better, especially when he is plucking the ball out of the air, one-handed, virtually behind his back.

3. Stephen Gostkowski...

When the lead is slim, guys like this make a huge difference. That is why Gostkowski is big in games like this. Remember Super Bowl XXXVI? Vinatieri kicked the game winner with no time left on the clock. That's what Gostkowski brings to the table. He led the league in scoring and he can win games from 50 yards out.

4. Organizational excellence...

Spygate? Everybody was doing it. Lots of teams came out and admitted it. Heck, the Broncos were guilty of it AFTER the Patriots got hammered for it! Amazing how that got swept under the rug. The actions of one man (a video assistant) say nothing of an organization led by Robert Kraft. He has done so much to help make the NFL what it is today. He also turned the fortunes of a team that had once been the court-jester of the league. Nine championship appearances and six Super Bowl berths say volumes.

5. Darrelle Revis...

It takes a very, good secondary to shut down a good passing game, like Seattle boasts. But the linchpin in that secondary is the legendary Darrelle Revis. He will be in the Hall and he just may get a ring to cap off a superlative career. He will have a huge impact and just may ruin the party for Wilson and the 'Hawks.

No doubt, the Patriots have their work cut out for them, but the same could be said for the other side. These are two great teams and this will be a great game. Don't blink, you might miss the fireworks.
