What If Tom Brady Won Those Two Super Bowls Against The Giants?

You can ask anyone who the greatest quarterback of all time is and you are sure to get a few different quarterbacks as number one. A few will answer Joe Montana, Brett Farve, Peyton Manning, John Elway, Dan Marino, Johnny Unitas, Tom Brady, and Steve Young. What if Tom Brady won those two super bowls against the Giants? Wouldn’t he be the all-time greatest quarterback without a doubt?

Tom Brady was (3-0) in Super Bowls before facing the Giants. Brady and the Patriots won 3 super bowls in 4 years. They won Super Bowl XXXVI against the St. Louis Rams, Super Bowl XXXVIII against the Carolina Panthers and Super Bowl XXXIX against the Philadelphia Eagles. We all remember the two super bowls with the New England Patriots versus the New York Giants. They battled in Super Bowl XLII (2007) and Super Bowl XLVI (2011). In Super Bowl XLII the Giants had one of the greatest plays in sports history, David Tyree caught a huge 3rd down pass on his helmet with only a minute left in the game with the Giants down by 4 points. This later turned into a touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress with 39 seconds left to give the Giants the lead and the victory. Then in Super Bowl XLVI the Patriots were up by 2 with 4 minutes to go. Brady throws a pass to a wide open Wes Welker who was unable to make the catch. The ball would have been placed at the 20 yard line if Welker was able to catch the pass. The Giants only had one timeout remaining. If Welker was able to catch the pass the Patriots would have had a shot to run most of the clock down.

Now if Brady would have won those two Super Bowls his Super Bowl record would have been (5-0), which would have given him the most Super Bowl victories by a quarterback. The most wins by a quarterback is Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana, both of them were a career (4-0). Not to mention the Patriots are in the AFC Championship game this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. Brady is one more win away from making it to another Super Bowl and two more victories away from a Super Bowl victory.

Here are a few other stats that can make Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time even without winnings those two Super Bowls; Brady has the most postseason wins by a quarterback (19), most postseason touchdowns (46), 5th all-time in career passing touchdowns (392), and 5th all-time in career passing yards (52,358).

Even without winning those two Super Bowls, Brady is in the running for top quarterback of all-time. Now if Brady would have won those two Super Bowls, plus the chance of winning this year’s Super Bowl the debate for best quarterback would have been hands down Tom Brady, but he was unable to win them so the debate for greatest quarterback of all-time lives on.
