The 3 Best Games of the 2014 College Football Season

The 2014 college football season offered us a number of exciting, memorable and classic games that we will never forget. Each season we have a handful of games that stick in our memory banks for years to come and the 2014 season was no different.

I have decided to rank the top three games of the 2014 season, which is sure to stir up some heated debate. These games had a massive effect on the national title race and were also games that reminded us why we love college football so much.

Coming in at number three in the best games of 2014, we have Baylor vs. TCU. This game was an offensive fan’s dream game. The final score ended up being Baylor 61- TCU 58, but the way this score came about was what was so magical.

The Horned Frogs of TCU appeared to be well on their way to getting a crucial Big 12 win and keeping their hopes alive for competing for a spot in the first annual College Football Playoff. The TCU Horned Frogs had a 21 point lead with eight minutes remaining and from then on out it was all Baylor.

The Bears of Baylor scored 21 unanswered points in the last eight minutes to pull off the remarkable 61-58 victory and kept TCU out of the College Football Playoff. It was a game for the ages and one we will not soon forget.

At number two, we have one of the first ever College Football Playoff semi-final games when the Alabama Crimson Tide took on the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes entered this game as huge underdogs and were believed by many not to be worthy of a spot in the first annual College Football Playoff.

Ohio State proved they belonged by having their third string quarterback, yes third string, take over the game with crucial plays with his arm and legs. The Buckeyes defeated number one Alabama 42-35 and earned a spot in the first ever College Football Playoff national title game.

It was a game for the ages and was the perfect start to the College Football Playoff era in college football. Ohio State and Alabama played a classic in the Sugar Bowl and earns the number two spot in the best games of 2014.

Finally, our number one game of the 2014 season is Ole Miss vs. Alabama. On October 4, 2014, we witnessed one of the greatest days, if not the best, in the history of college football. There were upsets throughout the country from Noon to well after midnight on the east coast.

The highlight game of the day happened mid day when Alabama fell to Ole Miss in The Grove. Ole Miss made a remarkable second half push to surge past Alabama late and sealed the win with an interception as the fourth quarter neared an end.

Ole Miss won the game, rushed the field and carried the goal posts throughout the streets all night. The game is still talked about today and will be for decades to come. It was an instant classic and a game that summed up just how great the 2014 season was from start to finish.

Ole Miss and Alabama played a classic that we all dream of and earn their spot as the best game of the 2014 season.
