Philadelphia Eagles 2015: Predicting Their Draft Picks
It is almost time for the NFL 2015 draft and after the Philadelphia Eagles free agency period, there are two questions: What Would Chip Kelly Do and are there enough Oregon Ducks to fill out the Eagles roster?
The Eagles will go into the draft with six picks in six rounds. It's a good thing. Because after the sudden departure of Jerry Maclin, the porous secondary, and a delicate fragile quarterback behind the offensive line, maybe, there are needs.
So assuming there are no Kelly Shenanigans and he sticks to the script, here are predictions for the draft. Spoiler ALERT... there will probably be Shenanigans.
Round 1: 20th Pick
So you would expect Kelly to go with a wide receiver since that pool on the Eagles is looking pretty shallow. But no!
Safety, Adrian Amos
Amos the safety from Pennsylvania State had a private work-out with Kelly. His career stats are 41 tackles, three interceptions and six pass deflections. He also has strong football IQ. And he fills the need for expecting the unexpected.
Round 2: 52nd Pick
Wide Receiver, Dorial Green-Beckham
Beckham is really good. He also has character issues. Look for Kelly to poo-pah these issues and go for the talent.
Round 3: 84th Pick
CornerBack, Ifo Ekpre-Olomu
Kelly has gone two rounds without picking a Duck. So it's time. Ekpre-Olomu suffered a severe knee injury post-season prepareing for the college play-offs. That will cause his stock to drop. Good news-bad news because it will land him with Kelly. Ekpre-Olomu's name in Nigerian means "something that fits you well", we are looking at you Kelly for that fit.
Round 4: 113th Pick
Offensive Tackle, Daryl Williams
It will be important to keep new quarterback Sam Bradford healthy. Honestly it is important to keep any quarterback healthy, because seriously it might not be Bradford. So Williams can help shore up the offensive line.
Round 5: 145th Pick
Safety, Kurtis Drummond
Drummond has ball skills and speed. But he isn't the best tackler. But he is 6'1" and 208 pounds and Kelly won't be able to pass him up in the fifth round.
Round 6: 196th Pick
Wide Receiver, Ty Montgomery
In a class that has some quality wide receivers Montgomery will fall through the cracks. He has good character. That doesn't catch balls. He will be utilized in special teams.
So we know that Kelly is a mad wizard. Expect him to live up to his free agency moniker of WTF? Yea, it should be good.
