(Reuters) - The domestic violence trial of U.S. women's soccer star Hope Solo was delayed on Tuesday after a judge in Washington state ruled that her attorney had not had adequate interview access to the two family members she is accused of assaulting. Solo, a goalkeeper for the U.S. women's soccer team, has pleaded not guilty to striking the family members - her sister and nephew - during a June dispute at her home in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland. Her trial, scheduled to begin this month, was continued until Jan. ...

By Zandi Shabalala JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A suspect in the killing of the captain and goalkeeper of South Africa's national soccer team has been arrested after witnesses picked him out in an identity parade, police said in a statement on Friday. The police said Zanokuhle Mbatha, 25, had been charged in connection with the case. Local media said the charges included murder. Soccer star Senzo Meyiwa was hit by a single gun shot to the chest on Sunday night while confronting two intruders at the home of his girlfriend, actress and singer Kelly Khumalo. ...

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South African police issued identikit pictures on Tuesday of two men suspected of killing the national soccer captain, a death that led to more calls for tighter gun laws a week after track star Oscar Pistorius was jailed for shooting his girlfriend. Senzo Meyiwa was hit by a single round in the chest on Sunday night while confronting two intruders at the home of his girlfriend, actress and singer Kelly Khumalo. The identikit pictures show two black men, one wearing a goatee and clad in a hoodie or hooded sweater. The other man is round-faced with dreadlocks. ...

Piara Power, who is a member of FIFA's Anti-Discrimination Task Force, stopped short of calling for Russia to be stripped of hosting the 2018 World Cup but feared an African team could walk off the field at those finals unless action was taken now. ...

The brothers, who have been involved in American sports clubs across different codes, were reacting on Wednesday to a story in Britain's Daily Mail newspaper which suggested UEFA was considering staging mini-tournaments outside Europe. Meanwhile, other media reports said English Premier League clubs have again discussed playing regular season games abroad. ...
