Below you’ll find Over-Priced and Best Buys for TEs. These are purely my suggestion as to which players come at a reasonable or unreasonable price based on their projected production. Some of them I don’t like based on match-ups while others I love the match-ups but don’t like the price.
It’s important to note you don’t want to ONLY use the Best Buy Players, this is simply a way to find some “sleepers” to fill your lineup.
Best Buy Tight Ends
Julius Thomas $6,700 vs Jets: JT is the highest priced TE this week but it doesn’t matter. When a player is AVERAGING 2 TDs a week, you put that player in your lineup without hesitation, especially after watching a fellow TE, Antonio Gates, score twice against the Jets just last week.
Delanie Walker $5,300 vs. Jaguars: Jacksonville is giving up the 2nd most points to opposing TEs and Walker is averaging about 15 fantasy points per week. Jake Locker/Charlie Whitehurst, whoever is under center, Walker still gets it done.
ABSOLUTE STEAL: Owen Daniels $4,300 vs. Buccaneers: Like the Jaguars, Tampa Bay is letting Tight Ends catch and run all season long, giving up the 4th most points to the position. Daniels is consistently getting 5-7 receptions and 50-70 yards and will look to end his 3 game scoreless streak.
BIG RISK SMALL PRICE: Tim Wright $3,000 vs. Bills: The Patriots Offense woke up in Week 5 and Wright was a BIG factor in that equation scoring one TD to go along with 85 yards on 5 catches. That being said he was only on the field for 19 plays…not exactly ideal snap count but the production was there with limited action.
Over Priced Tight Ends
Antonio Gates $6,100 vs. Raiders: We’ve seen this act with Gates before. He has a multi TD game and then climbs back into hiding for a few weeks until its time for another multi-TD game. Well he just had 2 TDs last week so unfortunately this is a week where he’s going back into hiding.
Niles Paul $4,800 vs.Cardinals: The match-up is great but the price is inflated since we expect Jordan Reed to be back in action this week. If Paul were to have the job all to himself, he’d be a decent play against a Cardinals squad that is getting beat up by Tight Ends. But with Reed back from injury, Paul at best, would be rotating.
