FSU's Karlos Williams Under Investigation For Domestic Violence

The Florida State athletic program is again dealing with a current star who is under investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department.

Football Nation has learned through various sources that running back Karlos Williams is part of an on-going investigation of an alleged domestic battery case.

According to, "The alleged crime is an active on-going investigation and Florida Law does not allow TPD to discuss the details of any case while it is on-going," the police department said.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said Friday in response to a report that Williams had been suspended, "There's another false report, and that's amazing how things happen. "Whoever has sources, whoever has rumors, needs to check who they are talking to – because that is about as far from truth as there is."

This is the second time in as many years that a Florida State football player has been the subject of a police investigation where an alleged assault took place. Last season it was revealed that quarterback Jameis Winston was accused of sexual assault from an incident that took place in 2012. The State Attorney in Tallahassee ruled there was not enough information or evidence to pursue an indictment in the case.

The Williams case is still being investigated by TPD.

Officer David Northway, spokesman for TPD, said the agency received the case Saturday night and it was immediately assigned to the agency's Criminal Investigation Division.

"Once the case is complete, it will be released under the guidelines of Florida Public Records Law," he said.

The Florida State Athletic Department says the status of running back Karlos Williams is under review after the Tallahassee Police Department said he was the suspect in a domestic battery incident.

Once word leaked concerning Williams, the FSU Athletic Department released this statement.

"The Athletics Department is aware of an investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department involving football student-athlete Karlos Williams. Until we receive more information regarding the alleged incident his status with the team will be under review."

Williams, a senior running back starting this season for the first time in his career, has rushed for 378 yards and seven touchdowns for the undefeated Seminoles.

Tallahassee attorney Tim Jansen says he is representing Williams. He declined to comment.

There is no word yet whether Williams will play in the game against Louisville on Thursday.
