Give tha Dang Ball to Marshawn Lynch Already!

The defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks have had their fair share of difficulties to start the 2014 season. The controversy surrounding the trade of Percy Harvin certainly did not help in giving fans any type of confidence in whatever the team is doing.

At 3-3 it seems that the Seahawks have lost their swagger. Their defense doesn’t look anything like it did in 2013 when they were the best unit anyone had seen in this generation. So what is going on? How can Seattle right the ship before it is too late? What is the key to their three wins and three losses?

This one is easy: Marshawn Lynch.

In three wins this year Lynch carried the ball 63 times for 270 yards. That is 21 touches per game. When you have a back like Lynch you can wear teams down. You can control the clock. You give your defense more time to rest and that makes it easier for them to make plays.

In their three losses Lynch has carried the ball only 34 times! That is 10 fewer carries per game in the three games that the Seahawks lost. How can anyone look at those results and not give Lynch the ball more often? Forget playing from behind. Forget Russell Wilson using his legs. That shouldn’t change a successful game plan.

With the departure of Percy Harvin, it may be even more important to get Lynch heavily involved in the ground attack as Seattle is down a playmaker (even if he has done little for them).

I can assure you that Seattle, and especially Marshawn Lynch, are going to come out fired up and ready to play this Sunday. Lynch should touch the ball around 25 times in a major ground and pound attack. Seattle has to right the ship and going Beast Mode is the answer.
