Clint Dempsey talks about his return to Fulham FC (video)

Clint Dempsey talked to Fulham’s media team about his second run at Craven Cottage, where Dempsey will be eligible beginning Jan. 1.
He says the desire to take up temporary West London residence once again isn’t just about regaining sharpness ahead of a World Cup year, but admits that’s part of the deal:
“It’s a lot of different things,” he said. “I wanted to get back to playing at the highest level. Watned to get back into top form. Getting back helping the team in a situation where they aren’t where they want to be in the table. But, yeah, going into a World Cup year, you want to get into top form and carry that forward so hopefully you can have a good showing.”
.
Dempsey also revealed that he will not travel with the team to Hull City this weekend for support. Rather, he will remain in London to train and get as fit as possible ahead of the first match for which he will be eligible, a Jan. 1 London derby against fellow relegation struggler West Ham.
Dempsey’s family left London today (Thursday, Boxing Day), bound for the United States. So it’s just Dempsey and his training regimen now ahead of next week’s big opportunity against West Ham. If Fulham, currently in the relegation zone in 16th place, a win at home over West Ham is an absolute “must have.”
