5 Reasons Kirk Cousins is Better than RGIII

Arm Strength

Kirk Cousins can fire the ball down field.  He has excellent arm strength to reach on open target quickly.  Cousins' arm strength also allows him to quickly get rid of the ball when being pressured by an opposing pass rush. rather than taking the sack.

Accuracy

Kirk Cousins has better accuracy on passing downs for the Redskins.  Along with his arm strength noted above, Cousins also makes crisp throws down field, which allows him to hit tightly covered receivers down field.  He also utilizes this talent to avoid creating turnovers for opposing defenses on game days.

Coolness in the Pocket

Where Cousins really outshines RG3, is his ability to remain patient in the pocket and allow the play to develop, rather than attempt to rush the play.  RG3 tends to leave the pocket at the first sign of pressure, which increases the chances of a non-contact, or contact related injury.  Cousins quickly recognizes the pressure, and utilizes every available second in the pocket to find an open target.  As a result, the offense runs more efficiently, and the chance of turnovers decreases.

Field Vision

Kirk Cousins' has arguably the best field vision of any current starting quarterback in the NFC East.  He knows how to quickly locate the hot routes, while also checking off defenders to locate his secondary targets.  RG3 tends to rush his down field looks on passing downs when inside the pocket, but once flushed from the pocket, his ability to locate the best available receiver diminishes.

Footwork Inside The Pocket

Kirk Cousins not only utilizes better patience inside the pocket than RG3, but he also utilizes better footwork in evading pass rushers.  Rather than taking off down field in a desperate attempt to create something out of nothing, Cousins uses his lateral agility to avoid contact within the pocket.  Once clear of the defender, he utilizes his pocket coolness to find an open target down field, resulting in better efficiency on passing downs.
