UCF 31, BYU 24: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

If you missed the game between BYU and UCF, you misssed college football at it's best. With so many ups and downs for each team it was a roller coaster ride right up to the end. Let's look at some of the good, the bad, and the ugly from this game.

The Ugly

For UCF fans, one of the ugliest moments of the game came on a 2nd and 7 just before half time when UCF QB Justin Holman got sacked by Sione Takitaki with a forced fumble to top it off. Later, #25 Kyle Gibson failed to get out of the way of a punt, had the ball bounce off the back of his leg, allowing BYU's Algernon Brown to retreive the fumble.

BYU had their own ugly moments as well. For the first quarter, BYU failed to make a single first down, and not a single touchdown in the first half. Now on to the bad.

The Bad

As we continued to ride this roller coaster of a game, BYU fans saw some bad moments. On a 1st and 10 in the first half, BYU QB Christian Stewart threw an interception to UCF's Jacoby Glen. Later, UCF sacked Stewart for a loss of 8 on a 1st and 10 in the 3rd quarter.

UCF saw plenty of Bad moments as well. Late in the 4th quarter Justin Holman threw an interception to BYU's Kai Nacua. Then with only 5 seconds remaining, fans on the edge of their seat, UCF failes to make the feild goal, we'll find out next how that happened in the good.

The Good

Though they lost the game, BYU had some great moments, especially for Colby Pearson, making his first touchdown as a cougar, as shown above. As promised, BYU had another great moment, when with only 5 seconds left, the score tied at 24, Mitch Mathews makes an outstanding play to block the feild goal attempt sending the game into overtime. Not to mention an overall great game by Christian Stewart with three touchdown passes, and a run for 20 yards on a 3rd and 18. We also can't leave out the fact that BYU now has a record high of making their last 70 PATs.

Aside from UCF winning in overtime with a 4 yd touchdown pass to William Stanback, UCF had plenty of great moments as well. In the first drive of the game, Justin Holman made a 5 yd touchdown run. UCF also got a fumble recovery off of Algernon Brown in the 4th quarter.

A short summary of some of the sweet and the bitter for both teams, but no matter what side of the fence you sit on, it was a great game, and for Christian Stewart of BYU, what a way to start for your first game as BYU's starting QB.
