Week 5 Injury Update That Could Cost You A Million Dollars
Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.
If you have been read anything this week on Football Nation, then you know there is a great contest going on. It's a million dollar one week fantasy football contest. Just go to FFchamps.com/million to sign up. One mistake people do when drafting players is not to look at the injury updates. Sometimes people set their rosters at the beginning of the week and then let it go. A good thing is to always check the injury report every day. Sometimes a player gets hurt in practice and will miss the game. It's good to know who’s hurt and who’s the fill in. With the million dollar contest you have a set budget to spend, which is $50,000. Sometimes a late fill in starter is really cheap and could help you win. Here are a few injuries to keep your eye on this weekend that could win you or cost you a million dollars. (Players salaries in quotation marks)
Calvin Johnson ($8,200) - Calvin is the highest priced wide receiver this week. He has been hobbled by an ankle injury. He played only 33 snaps last week with the ankle injury. Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell hinted that if the ankle doesn’t get better by Sunday, Johnson could sit out the game.
Golden Tate ($4,900) - Tate popped up on the injury report following Thursday's practice. It seems to be a hamstring problem, but he seems to be okay to play Sunday. If Calvin Johnson does miss Sunday’s game Tate could be a good play at only $4,900.
Arian Foster ($7,400) - Foster missed the Week 3 game with an ankle injury. Though he did play Week 4 versus the Buffalo Bills, he only rushed the ball 8 times. Foster split carries with Alfred Blue last week and if Foster plays this week we could be expecting the same result. If Foster does miss the game this week expect a bigger role for Alfred Blue. This week Blue is worth only $3,000 and in the Week 3 game that Foster missed, Blue rushed the ball for 78 yards.
Carson Palmer ($7,200) - Palmer has not played since Week 1 with a shoulder injury. It looks like he will miss the game. Expect Drew Stanton to remain the starter in Palmers absent.
Jonathan Stewart (3,000) and Deangelo Williams ($3,500) - Stewart is listed as doubtful for this week's game with a knee injury. Deangelo Williams has already been ruled out this week. So with Williams out and Stewart most likely missing the game, expect a running back by committee this week for the Carolina Panthers. I wouldn’t pick up a Panther running back this week hoping to win a million dollars, but if you had to I would say pick up Darrin Reaves ($3,000)
Niles Paul ($5,100) and Jordan Reed ($3,600) - Reed, who has been out since Week 1, has a chance to return this week versus the Seattle Seahawks. Reed’s teammate Niles Paul looks to be a question mark after suffering a concussion last week versus the New York Giants. The game is a Monday night game, so I would try to stay away from these two if at all possible. If you are looking to pick up someone this week around the same price range I would suggest Heath Miller ($4,000) and Zach Ertz ($3,800). Miller has a great matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars give up the most points to the tight ends this year.
Vernon Davis ($4,900) - Davis was a question mark last week with a ankle and knee injury. Then in last week's game against the Eagles he suffered a back injury. He has not practiced all week. It looks like Davis will miss the game.
Joique Bell ($5,600) and Theo Reddick ($3,000) - They both have been ruled out so look for a lot of Reggie Bush ($6,200). If Calvin sits out too, look for Bush to get it done on the ground and through the air.
Eric Decker ($4,800) - Decker has been bothered by a hamstring injury for awhile. I would stay away from him even if he does play.
Andre Johnson ($6,400) - Johnson is listed as questionable. It looks like Johnson will play, but if Johnson does sit out, DeAndre Hopkins ($4,800) could be in for a big game being the Houston Texans number one receiver.
Ben Tate ($5,000) - Tate was trying to come back this week but it looks like he might not play. He is going to test his knee on Saturday to see if he is okay. If Tate is out look for Terrance West ($4,100) and Isaiah Crowell ($3,400) to split carries.
Cecil Shorts ($4,600) and Marqise Lee ($3,200) - Both Shorts and Lee will miss this weekend's game. Look for Week 1 star Allen Hurns ($4,500) and Allen Robinson ($3,000) to be the two starting wide receivers.
Jordan Cameron ($4,400) - Cameron has been hurt by a shoulder injury all year. The Cleveland Browns had a bye week last week. The extra rest should help Cameron. He should be a good start against a weak Tennessee Titans team.
