The Five Most Improved Teams Of The 2014 Season

Sometimes your season goes better then you expected. That could either be because your team played better than last year or that you had some luck find your way. Either way these 5 teams played better than we thought they were going to be and were very impressive in their own way.

Houston Texans

Last year the Texans were (2-14) and had the number one pick in the 2014 NFL draft. This year they just missed the playoffs. They finished the season (9-7). Next year the Texans have the makings of a very good team if they can get a reliable quarterback. Many could argue they could have made the playoffs if they had a better quarterback. The Texans had 4 different quarterbacks, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, Ryan Mallett and Tom Savage. Even though this team improved this year next year could be even better with a healthy number one overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney to pair with arguably the best NFL player J.J. Watt.

Detroit Lions

The Lions last year finished (8-8), just missing the playoffs. This year though the Lions made sure they made the playoffs finishing (11-5). The Lions have a great defense. They give up the 2nd least amount of total yards to opposing teams. It also doesn’t hurt having one of the best wide receivers in Calvin Johnson also. With the defense the Lions have and Matt Stafford, Johnson and Golden Tate the Lions could go far in this year’s playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys

Some picked the Cowboys to finish with 4 wins. They had 4 wins wrapped up by week 5. The Cowboys lost the first game of the year to the San Francisco 49ers, but then went on a six game winning streak. The Cowboys had career year from DeMarco Murray, Dez Bryant and Tony Romo. There offensive lines could be one of the best in the league. Their defense might not be one of the best but their offense can keep them in the game.

Arizona Cardinals

At one point the Cardinals were the best team in the NFL. They jumped out to a (9-1) record and looked like they were going to be the number 1 team in the NFC. Then the injuries started to take a toll on the team. They lost their quarterback Carson Palmer and starting running back Andre Ellington to injure reserved. They also lost defensive lineman John Abraham. If it wasn’t for the injuries we could be talking about this team as a Super Bowl threat.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns finished last year (4-12) and this year finished (7-9). The Browns are a young team. The Browns improved this year all without much help from last year’s first round pick Johnny Manziel. The Browns main concern is getting star wide receiver Josh Gordon back on the right track. The Browns could be even better next year with another year under their belts.
