Scouting Notes: Will likely be drafted late because of a lack of eye popping athleticism and measurables, arm length is borderline for an OT, but he's an outstandng football player...Very technically sound in pass protection, consistently gets inside hand position...Protects against the inside pass rush effectively, good strong power step inside...Has more strength and is a better athlete overall than he's given credit for which he flashed a bit at the combine, but he's a much better football player than he is an athlete...Mirrors very well in pass protection, good sound footwork, gets good depth on his kickslide, stays squared up to his man, handles speed very well, better than he handles the bull rush, shows the ability to anchor down against power, but ocassionally sets his anchor too deep...Lacks ideal strength and power in his anchor, but has good core strength and flexibility...Good shock absorber, shows the ability to adjust after getting knocked on his heels initially in pass protection...May lack ideal length for an OT but plays with consistently good leverage and hand positioning, getting the most out of every inch of his reach......Lacks ideal heavy hands in his initial punch, but has big strong hands cpable of controlling his man from a distance in pass protection when he's able to latch and lock.... More of a technician than he is a mauler, a good fit for a zone blocking scheme...Good natural knee bend...Not a dominant force as a run blocker like his teammate on the other side, but he consistently gets good body positioning, a good run fit, and looks to get to the second level...Always hustling, always looking to make that extra block, high motor player that blocks from snap to whistle...Looks great on the move, light on his feet, effective on pulling action or getting out on screens, does a good job zeroing in on smaller targets in space...Has the ability to play tackle or guard, could backup multiple positions early in his career and be a reliable backup on game day, but that's far from his ceiling, he can be a starter at RT in this league or on the interior, has the ability to start from day one if called upon, coaches are going to love him when training camp gets underway with his work ethic and sound fundamentals....He's an outstanding pass blocker either as a right tackle or as a guard, could have played left tackle with ease at the collegiate level if necessary, but probably doesn't have quite the athleticism to excel on the left side at the pro level, in a pass first league like the NFL, he will be an eventual starter and a relaible RT or guard for somebody for a number of years....A typical hard working and well coached Iowa offensive lineman, tough, smart and technically sound.
