Carson Palmer visited a spine specialist on Wednesday and discovered he will not require surgery to repair his injured right shoulder according to azcardinals.com.
Two different specialists have diagnosed Palmer with an axillary nerve contusion, which has caused Palmer to sit out the last two games. Even after the bye week, Palmer still appears too hurt to play.
In fact, Palmer regressed after throwing for two days over the bye week. The 34-year-old quarterback said he was only throwing at about 20 percent and still the shoulder felt worse.
The Cardinals will once again turn to 30-year-old quarterback Drew Stanton, who led Arizona to wins over the Giants and 49ers to keep the Cardinals undefeated.
The only question remains, can fantasy owners also turn to Stanton to help them win $1 million?
Stanton is listed at just $5,000, the same price as backups Matt Hasselbeck, Jason Campbell, Derek Anderson and Bruce Gradkowski. That is also the same as new starter Kyle Orton and less than backup Johnny Manziel.
The Cardinals quarterback has thrown for 411 yards and two touchdowns in his two starts. That is not a ton of yards, obviously, but he did increase his passing totals from his first start in his second against a tougher opponent. He threw for just 167 yards in Week 2 against the Giants versus 244 yards against the 49ers in Week 3. His completion percentage also spiked up from 48.3 to 54.5 percent.
Three games is a small sample size, but the Denver Broncos are again one of the worst passing defenses in the league. The Broncos have allowed 285.3 yards per game through the air, which is 31st in the league.
In what looks poised to be a high scoring affair, Stanton provides excellent value for daily fantasy players at his price. Of course, if you have the guts to use him.
