NFL Power Rankings Week 9: Cardinals Nesting at No. 1

Week 9 in the 2014 NFL season is in the books. Sunday saw three marquee matchups which all ended in blowouts.

The Denver Broncos sat on top of Football Nation's Power Rankings for three straight weeks, but after the lopsided loss in New England, there is a new No. 1. There are also two new additions to the top 10.

Football Nation would like to remind readers that power rankings are only an opinion, based on just one opinion, but they do take into account strength of schedule, point differential and other human elements rather than just record. One human element that was important to this week's power rankings were injuries.

This week's list sees some big increases and drop offs. Miami and Pittsburgh each moved up six spots while San Francisco fell nine places, the most any team has dropped in several weeks.

Remember, Power Rankings are supposed to reveal some insight, not just list the teams from best to worst record.

Lastly, don't forget that the rankings are serious, but the comments are not. Let's be real, after reading lots and lots of serious football articles breaking down every little detail, fans could use a good laugh.

Anyway, without further ado, check out where each team ranks after Week 8 of the 2014 season.

Previous Power Rankings:

Week 8: Shaken Up at the Top
Week 7: AFC on the Rise
Week 6: Rise of NFC East
Week 5: The Year of the Comeback
Week 4: Win a Million Playing Fantasy Football
Week 3: Flip Flopping at No. 1
Week 2: A New Number 1
Week 1: New Season, Same Narrative
