New York Giants: Who Replaces Antrel Rolle if not re-signed

Many Giant fans (including myself) would like to see the Giants re-sign Antrel Rolle and finish his career as a New York Giant. Unfortunately, the price tag could be too high for the Giants to consider and if so, who replaces Rolle? Keep in mind that not only is Rolle a free agent, but Stevie Brown and Quintin Demps are as well. Although either Brown or Demps would demand a price tag as high as Rolle, would the Giants be willing to bring back either one based on their performance in 2014. Currently, the only safeties under contract are Nat Berle and Taylor Cooper, and given their lack of experience, would the Giants be comfortable handing one of the safety position over to either one of them?  Looking at the many free agent safeties this off season, I have narrowed them down to my top 3 safeties the Giants should consider.

Da’Norris Searcy (Buffalo Bills): Searcy is only 26 years old (6 years younger than Rolle). Searcy had a tremendous season for the Bills, ranking in nearly top 5 in every category for safeties in 2014. Searcy is quick and is a ball hawk (3 INTS & 5 pass breakups). Not only did Searcy excel against the pass, but he is a devastating tackler as well. The price tag for Searcy will certainly be much less than what Rolle might be seeking. If so, the Giants should consider this option.

Jeromy Miles (Baltimore Ravens):  Miles has good size (6’2/211) and is only 27 years old. He may not have the overall upside like Searcy, but would demand a very reasonable price tag and provide a solid option. Miles was equally efficient against the pass and run and new DC Steve Spagnuolo knows him very well.

Ron Parker (Kansas City Chiefs):  Parker may not as talented as either Searcy or Miles, however; he does provide value at the safety position. Parker would be a slight upgrade over either Berle or Cooper for the Giants. His price tag would be very reasonable and at only 27 years old would be in his prime years.

All 3 of the safeties mentioned above are UFA; which translate to no compensation (against the Giants) if the Giants intend on signing any one of them.  I do know that the Giants management and Tom Coughlin would love to have Rolle re-signed and back in a Giants uniform. Unfortunately, the price tag could be too high to retain Rolle. Also, for all you Giant fans who believe the Giants might place the franchise tag on Rolle, consider this; the price for placing a franchise tag on safeties would be $8,433M.
