Ranking the Best Possible QB Matchups in Super Bowl 49

Sunday is championship Sunday in the NFL and for NFL fans it is one of the best days of the year. The AFC title offers a matchup of Tom Brady vs. Andrew Luck. Brady and Luck are two of the greatest quarterbacks in the game today and very well could be two of the greatest ever when all is said and done.

In the NFC title game we see a matchup of defending Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson going up against Super Bowl 45 champion Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. These two quarterbacks go about playing the quarterback position very differently, but both have won a Super Bowl doing it in their own respective way.

We have four of the best quarterbacks in the game today competing for a shot to play in Super Bowl 49. All four of these quarterbacks are very capable of leading their team to a Super Bowl title, but if we were to rank which matchups we would like to see in Super Bowl 49 who would be the two we would choose?

I have decided to rank the most intriguing matchups we could possibly see in Super Bowl 49 in terms of starting quarterbacks. The quarterback position is the glamour position and like it or not, they are the headline grabbers that helps create a unique publicity around a team or game.

Here are the possible matchups we could see in Super Bowl 49.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Andrew Luck

Aaron Rodgers vs. Tom Brady

As you look at these four possible matchups in the Super Bowl, each battle offers its own very unique headlines that would be very intriguing. All four quarterbacks, except Andrew Luck, have already won a Super Bowl in their career.

Luck knows that he is the lone guy without a Super Bowl ring on championship Sunday and his desire to end that has to be at an all-time high.

So, here is how we would rank the possible quarterback matchups in Super Bowl 49.

4- Aaron Rodgers vs. Andrew Luck- Two of the best quarterbacks in terms of reading defenses battling it out would be fun for fans of offense. The first to 40 may be the recipe for victory if these two quarterbacks happen to meet in Super Bowl 49.

3- Russell Wilson vs. Tom Brady- A battler of Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, but two that went about it in very different ways. We would see one of the most mobile quarterbacks, in Russell Wilson, against Tom Brady, the pure pocket passing type quarterback. Wilson would have to try and defend his Super Bowl against the leading active Super Bowl winning quarterback in the NFL today in Brady. The battle of Brady vs. the great Seattle defense would be the most intriguing aspect of this matchup.

2- Russell Wilson vs. Andrew Luck- The battle of the two best young quarterbacks in the NFL today would be made for Super Bowl Sunday. This would be the battle of the number one pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Andrew Luck, going up against the 75th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Russell Wilson. This would be one of the most intriguing Super Bowl matchups at the quarterback we have seen in years and one that I would personally love to see.

Last, but not least coming in at number 1 on our list is Aaron Rodgers vs. Tom Brady. We would have a battle of the best two quarterbacks in the league today according to many fans and analysts. Their ability to read defenses and make precision passes in tight coverage is unrivaled by many in the game today.

This game of Packers vs. Patriots would not only offer us a battle of Brady vs. Rodgers, but also two teams that have well rounded great teams this season. This matchup of Rodgers vs. Brady would be great for headlines and hype leading up to Super Bowl Sunday. The Packers and Patriots have been two of the best teams in the NFL the past decade and to finally see them compete at the highest level would be a treat for everyone.

We see this as the best possible quarterback matchup in Super Bowl 49, but the road to get there still has some work to be done. Championship Sunday in the NFL this season should be classic and no matter which matchup we get in Super Bowl 49, it will be full of interest and intrigue.
