2014 Georgia Bulldogs' Season and Schedule Review

The 2014 season for the Georgia Bulldogs could certainly be described as a rollercoaster type campaign. The season began with high expectations after Georgia had a convincing 45-21 victory in their season opener over the Clemson Tigers.

Georgia’s standout running back and return man Todd Gurley had a breakout game that included a 100 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. It kick started his 2014 Heisman campaign and what looked to be a promising season for Georgia in 2014.

That promising season quickly went downhill after another season full of injuries and even a midseason suspension to Gurley. Gurley was suspended midseason for an NCAA violation, which really sent the Bulldogs’ season into a tailspin.

The Bulldogs were able to somehow stay afloat amongst all the injuries and Gurley's suspension. Their disappointing showing against Florida, in which they allowed 418 rushing yards, kept them from playing Alabama in the 2014 SEC Championship Game.

Georgia’s most exciting game of the season came in an overtime loss to instate rival Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs 30-24 loss in overtime against the Yellow Jackets prevented Georgia from going to a big time bowl game.

Here is a full look at the 2014 Georgia Bulldogs’ schedule and results.

The Bulldogs finished 2014 season with a record of 10-3, which included an impressive 6-2 SEC record. The loss of historically great Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray was felt at times during the season last year, but Hutson Mason grew into a reliable quarterback in the second half of the season.

The 2015 season for Georgia will be interesting as they will once again lose their quarterback and other star players on offense. The potential of another great season for Georgia is present after another successful recruiting class for the Bulldogs.

2014 was a great season in Athens, Georgia and for the Bulldogs’ faithful; the hope of a national title is the ultimate dream in 2015.
