Jaguars:Concerns About the Running Game and Other Notes
The Jacksonville Jaguars have less than a week before their playing
season is over. Then the fun stuff starts. The team is still working
toward finishing strong for themselves, head coach Gus Bradley and the
fans and organization. This week is a little different for players with
the Christmas Holiday in the middle of the week and the game being
played on the road on Sunday.
At stake is a chance to finish 5-11 on the season - a three game improvement over last season. With it comes the momentum this team may need to build on for team culture and a culture in the city that might help with marketing and ticket sales.
As Tom Coughlin explained in an interview earlier this year on FOX, every win is important to the survival of the team, the coach and the city the franchise plays in.
Bradley was to the point in his comments during his Monday press conference. The running game was severely shut down on Sunday, ending a month-long streak of 100 yards on the ground. Runners lacked a burst and push between the tackles and through the Titans defensive front.
“When you get over 100 yards, it’s because of the number of explosives you have,” he said on Jacksonville.com. “We didn’t have any [Sunday] and that’s what hurt us in the run game.”

The Jaguars announced on Monday they had placed Roy Miller and Brandon Deaderick on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
According to reports on Jacksonville.com, Miller didn’t play against Tennessee and will need surgery and Deaderick, who started in Miller’s place, exited in the first half.
The Jaguars added two defensive tackles: Kyle Love, who was cut by the team after the preseason and Drake Nevis, a former third-round pick by Indianapolis who has spent time this year with the Colts, San Diego and Dallas.
Cornerback Dwayne Gratz (high ankle sprain) hasn’t been ruled out but Bradley said “it doesn’t look good,” for Sunday.
Left tackle Cam Bradfield also has a high ankle sprain and will be held out of practice early this week with the hope of having him ready.
Draft positioning
This might be the most important topic in Jacksonville and has been all season. The fight for the top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft continues. Jacksonville, however, is not in the chase for the first overall pick.
If the Draft was held today, here is how the teams would pick: 1. Houston Texans; 2. St. Louis Rams (via Washington); 3. Cleveland Browns; 4.Jacksonville Jaguars; 5. Oakland Raiders; 6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers; 7. Atlanta Falcons; 8. Minnesota Vikings; 9. Tennessee Titans;
