Fantasy Football Week 14 Injury Recap and Fantasy Impact

If you are still reading this, congratulations on making the fantasy playoffs and/or advancing to the next round. As always, if you enjoy this post, follow @HarutNFL_FFBall for more information, advice, and much more fantasy football related.

Quarterbacks:

Zach Mettenberger, QB, TEN

  • Injury: Shoulder
  • Status: Out
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Back-up: Jake Locker
  • News: Mettenberger got hurt again on Sunday and did not return. His season is likely over.
  • Fantasy ramification: Unless you are in a bizarre three quarterback league, there is no fantasy impact here. Jake Locker is nothing special.

Colt McCoy, QB, WSH

  • Injury: Neck strain
  • Status: Questionable
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Back-up: RG3
  • News: McCoy got hurt on a play very late in the game and did not return.
  • Fantasy ramification: The starting QB for this team is unknown at this point. Neither will be a fantasy option.

Running Backs:

Andre Ellington, RB, ARI

  • Injury: Hip
  • Status: Out
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Back-up: Kerwynn Williams/Marion Grice / Stepfan Taylor
  • News: Ellington is done for the season.
  • Fantasy ramification: Honestly, if you've made it this far you should have some depth on your team and shouldn't need to pick up any of the backs in Arizona. Nonetheless, Kerwynn Williams got the better share of the touches against the Chiefs, but didn't do anything with them. No one is a fantasy option in Arizona at this point.

Wide Receivers:

Torrey Smith, WR, BAL

  • Injury: Foot
  • Status: Questionable
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Back-up: Steve Smith / Jacoby Jones
  • News: Torrey Smith was good to go until his knee swelled up pre-game which resulted in him not playing.
  • Fantasy ramification: We all saw Steve Smith have his best game in the last couple weeks with Torrey Smith out and we can continue to expect that if Torrey Smith continues to miss any time. I really wouldn't add anyone else from the Ravens as they are wildly inconsistent.

Andre Johnson, WR, HOU

  • Injury: Concussion
  • Status: Questionable
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Back-up: DeAndre Hopkins / Keshawn Martin
  • News: Johnson got hit hard and was diagnosed with a concussion. He did not return.
  • Fantasy ramification: Johnson has been hit or miss this season with inconsistent quarterback play. If Andre Johnson does miss time, DeAndre Hopkins gets a good boost as he has really come on this season after a so-so first year in the league. Hopkins is becoming a solid WR2 week in and week out. I wouldn't even consider playing another Texans wide receiver.

Percy Harvin, WR, NYJ

  • Injury: Ankle
  • Status: Out
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Back-up: Eric Decker / Jeremy Kerley
  • News: Harvin's best game of the season went south after leaving the game on crutches. It does not look good for him.
  • Fantasy ramification: You never want to trust any Jet wide receivers, especially in the playoffs. Harvin's injury does boost Decker's value a bit, but not really that much since they don't trust Geno Smith at all and refuse to let him air it out. Decker is the best bet here if you're desperate or in deeper leagues. Kerley is not a fantasy option.

Brandon Marshall, WR, Bears

  • Injury: Ribs/Lung
  • Status: Out
  • Depth Chart: Starter
  • Backup: Alshon Jeffery, Marquess Wilson
  • News: Marshall took a knee to the back on Thursday Night vs. the Cowboys and later was seen leaving the stadium in an ambulance. The team later revealed Marshall puntcured a lung and cracked two ribs.
  • Fantasy Ramifications: Marshall will end his season on the Injured Reserved list, which elevates Wilson into the starting lineup. Expect more targets for Alshon Jeffery and Tight End Martellus Bennett.
