The Jacksonville Jaguars know they will have a full complement of offensive linemen when they ply at Cincinnati on Sunday,

The team announced that left tackle Luke Joeckel has been cleared to play after suffering a concussion last Sunday versus Miami.

According to Jaguars.com, the situation on the offensive line is improved, so now the team can focus on changes being made on the defensive side of the ball, most notably at linebacker.

Joeckel, the Jaguars’ starting left tackle in the first eight games of the season, was listed as probable on the team’s injury report Friday, with all indications he will start when the Jaguars visit the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday.

“I’d be shocked if we didn’t (have Joeckel Sunday),” Head Coach Gus Bradley said as the Jaguars (1-7) prepared to play the Bengals (4-2-1).

Joeckel, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, left a loss to Miami last Sunday with a concussion, and after missing practice Wednesday returned on a limited basis Thursday. He worked full in practice Friday.

“I missed out on Wednesday’s practice, but I’ve done the walkthroughs and all that stuff,” Joeckel said. “I feel good to go. I’ve watched plenty of film, so I’m ready to go.”

The team got some other good news when defensive back Dwayne Gratz was listed as probable for Sunday. His play has been limited throughout the week as elbow and groin issues continue to plague him.

Jeremiah George, signed off the New York Jets’ practice squad September 23, is expected to have an expanded role and could start at middle linebacker. If that happens, J.T. Thomas – who started at middle linebacker last week with starter Paul Posluszny (torn pectoral) having gone on injured reserve – would return to the Otto linebacker spot. Thomas started at Otto Weeks 3-7.

Dekoda Watson, who started at the Otto in Week 8, is questionable with a hamstring injury, with Bradley saying the decision to give George an expanded role was more about George earning an opportunity than anything else.

“He’s caught our attention,” Bradley said. “His speed, his instincts all caught our eye. We were waiting for him to see how well he could pick up the defense. He showed really well last week, then had another good week on top of it. He’s caught our eye.”

Bradley added that Thomas has proven he can play well at the Otto.

In other Jaguars news…

• Cornerback Will Blackmon (finger) and defensive end Andre Branch (groin) missed practice and will be out Sunday. Blackmon is out an extended period and Branch is expected to miss about five more weeks. Neither is expected to make the trip to Cincinnati or to London the week afterward.
• Safety Sherrod Martin is expected to play the nickel Sunday with Blackmon having played there the first eight weeks of the season. It will be Martin’s first extensive playing time since sustaining anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament injuries in December 2012 while playing with Carolina. Martin, a second-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft from Troy, started for Carolina in 2010 and 2011. He has played five snaps this season. “When you get your opportunity, you have to step in and capitalize on it,” Martin said. “You just have to put your best foot forward.”

There is a difference in how the Dolphins played in two halves of football. The result was a 27-13 win on the road at a time when the team needed to continue momentum toward the post season.

I’m not sure this win continues any momentum as much as it raises more questions.

Here are three things we learned about this team on Sunday.

1.  Six-Pack

Right from the start you got the feeling that it was going to be a defensive type of day for the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins offensive line struggled mightily in the first quarter and the offense was only able to generate three yards in that quarter.

So the burden of getting off to a fast start, as well as winning today’s football game laid squarely in the lap of the Dolphins defense. Safety Louis Delmas provided the spark and first pick six of the day coming off of his outside flat coverage responsibility, and undercut rookie quarterback Blake Bortles’ pass and taking it 81 yards untouched for a Dolphins touchdown.

 It was a veteran baiting a rookie quarterback into believing there was a window to deliver the football, and Delmas’ veteran savvy provided him the interception opportunity, which he took full advantage of.

The second time the defense found the end zone was when Brent Grimes played a double move on the outside perfectly, and stepped in front of another Bortles pass, and effectively jogged into the end zone. It was a good scheme dialed up by defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle to bring safety pressure from the boundary that limited the time in the pocket for Bortles and also allowed Grimes to break instinctively on the football.

2. Youthful Exuberance

Although the playmakers the majority of the day were veteran presences, I felt that the young guys are getting valuable experience on both sides of the football and are making an impact on a weekly basis. It starts on defense at linebacker with Jelani Jenkins and his relentless pursuit ability, which forced a fumble during the game that was ultimately recovered by Louis Delmas.

Staying on the defensive side of the football, 3rd year player Olivier Vernon might have had his best game as a Miami Dolphin. Not only did he have a key play on special teams, but had multiple pressures and was constantly in the Jaguars backfield. Cornerback Jamar Taylor seems to be fitting into a niche in the defensive backfield, and his open field tackling seems to be improving. He’s player that may be able to be counted on from this point out.

With Dion Jordan coming back, I think Jordan and linebacker Chris McCain give the Dolphins size and range on the outside, and could provide valuable rest for defensive ends Vernon, Cameron Wake, Derrick Shelby.

On offense, it’s worth noting that right tackle Ja’Wuan James hasn’t just been a guy to be counted on, but has clearly proven that he was the right selection in the 1st round by Dennis Hickey and the Dolphins organization.  Receiver Jarvis Landry has not only proven to have consistent hands and a good route runner, he brings toughness and explosiveness in the return game.

It was nice also to see Rishard Matthews get his first touchdown of the season, because I think he’s a player that Dolphins fans should watch for as he’s likely to get more playing opportunities on offense and special teams as the season progresses.

3. Hot & Cold

The Dolphins overcame a very slow start and were able to get the victory on the road, but this is not the blueprint in the coming weeks to win football games. After starting fast in Chicago, Miami did the exact opposite today. I don’t believe the Dolphins can face better teams like San Diego, Detroit, and Buffalo, and sputter out of the gate as an offensive unit like they have at points this year.  

The biggest problem to date is when the offensive line doesn’t get going early. That leaves shaky protection in the pocket for Ryan Tannehill, and limited running space for Lamar Miller. When those things happen, and you don’t catch the football consistently in the first half you dig too deep of a hole early, and sometimes the defense won’t be able to bail you out of it.

This offense doesn’t have to score 21 points in the first half, but they need to consistently possess the football so the defense doesn’t get worn down in the second half of football games.

An interesting Sunday to say the least. Just when you think you have this league figured out, the curveballs come in fast and furious. After all, who didn't have SD RB Brandon Oliver as a top fantasy performer? Pittsburgh WR Antonio Brown and the Steelers putting up a complete fantasy dud against the Jags fell right in line with expectations. No matter what, the NFL takes us on a ride each Sunday. Even though we don't always arrive exactly where we want, we wouldn't even think of not climbing aboard next week. Let's go through some things that stood out, starting with something that made us realize that the more things change, the more they stay the same:

• The obituary was released too soon. Tom Brady and the Pats thoroughly handled the Bengals on SNF. Brady was a man possessed on the opening drive, showing more zip on his passes than he has all year. It wasn't just the Mr. Bundchen show however, as the Pats dominated the Bengals in all phases. Cincy again looked not ready for primetime, and will look to rebound next Sunday vs. Carolina. The Pats travel to Buffalo to meet the surprising Bills in a battle for control of the division.
  
  
• Thousands of aspiring NY Jets Head Coaches got their wish on Sunday, as Michael Vick came on in relief of Geno Smith. It made absolutely no difference as the Jets were absolutely dominated by the Chargers, 31-0. Gang Green is a mess, and the downward spiral will continue as Peyton Manning and the Broncos come to town. San Diego will look to continue its sizzling start in Oakland against the Raiders.
  
  
• Speaking of Peyton, he exposed the Arizona Cardinal and in the process surpassed 500 career passing TDs. The Broncs have so many weapons it is almost unfair. This week it was Demaryius Thomas with the video game numbers - 8/226/2. We'll see who the target of choice is next week as they light up the Jets, while the Cards welcome Washington to town.
  
  
• Virtually no lead was safe on Sunday, and we witnessed some stirring comebacks. The Panthers rallied back to stun the Bears, while the Browns came all the way back from 25 points down to take out the Titans. Surprisingly, the Saints needed OT to surpass the Bucs, a game widely expected to be nothing more than a homecoming type game for New Orleans. The Saints reminded us there are no sure things in the NFL, and even a supposedly superior team can be pushed to the limits by an inferior foe.
  
  
• Speaking of sure things, a lot of fantasy flavors of the week failed to meet expectations. Some were taken out by the unpredicatability of injuries, Rashad Jennings and Jimmy Graham come to mind. Others just didn't follow the script, as the Steelers surprisingly struggled to beat the Jags and put up some disappointing fantasy lines, and Reggie Bush did not receive the anticipated workload as the Lions lost to the Bills. One of the great things about DFS is that this all becomes a distant memory quickly, and you can hit the reset button each week.

• Thousands of aspiring NY Jets Head Coaches got their wish on Sunday, as Michael Vick came on in relief of Geno Smith. It made absolutely no difference as the Jets were absolutely dominated by the Chargers, 31-0. Gang Green is a mess, and the downward spiral will continue as Peyton Manning and the Broncos come to town. San Diego will look to continue its sizzling start in Oakland against the Raiders.
  
  
• Speaking of Peyton, he exposed the Arizona Cardinal and in the process surpassed 500 career passing TDs. The Broncs have so many weapons it is almost unfair. This week it was Demaryius Thomas with the video game numbers - 8/226/2. We'll see who the target of choice is next week as they light up the Jets, while the Cards welcome Washington to town.
  
  
• Virtually no lead was safe on Sunday, and we witnessed some stirring comebacks. The Panthers rallied back to stun the Bears, while the Browns came all the way back from 25 points down to take out the Titans. Surprisingly, the Saints needed OT to surpass the Bucs, a game widely expected to be nothing more than a homecoming type game for New Orleans. The Saints reminded us there are no sure things in the NFL, and even a supposedly superior team can be pushed to the limits by an inferior foe.
  
  
• Speaking of sure things, a lot of fantasy flavors of the week failed to meet expectations. Some were taken out by the unpredicatability of injuries, Rashad Jennings and Jimmy Graham come to mind. Others just didn't follow the script, as the Steelers surprisingly struggled to beat the Jags and put up some disappointing fantasy lines, and Reggie Bush did not receive the anticipated workload as the Lions lost to the Bills. One of the great things about DFS is that this all becomes a distant memory quickly, and you can hit the reset button each week.

An interesting Sunday to say the least. Just when you think you have this league figured out, the curveballs come in fast and furious. After all, who didn't have SD RB Brandon Oliver as a top fantasy performer? Pittsburgh WR Antonio Brown and the Steelers putting up a complete fantasy dud against the Jags fell right in line with expectations. No matter what, the NFL takes us on a ride each Sunday. Even though we don't always arrive exactly where we want, we wouldn't even think of not climbing aboard next week.
