20 Super Bowl Trivia Questions With Some Bite

Chris "Mad Dog" Russo

So you’ve had your face painted. You put off making love to your significant other in order to spend more time managing your fantasy football team. Maybe you even listen to sports talk radio more hours a day than you actually sleep and you certainly watch Ron Jaworski break down film on a weekly basis.

You are indeed a football lifer. Unfortunately, merely confessing to any of those activities doesn’t certify you as a football genius. The ultimate barometer of your football IQ isn’t certifiably tested until you’ve successfully participated in sports radio legend Chris Russo’s annual Super Bowl Trivia contest.

The man they call the “Mad Dog” has more hidden answers to Super Bowl trivia questions than Mitt Romney has dollars stowed away in offshore bank accounts! Don’t kid yourself: the middle name of Mercury Morris’ third grandchild, and what hospital he was born in, could very well get asked.

Each year around this time, the Sirius XM radio host takes on the alter ego of the “Marquis de Sade” and gives each caller a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Super Bowl along with hotel accommodations. All the contestant has to do is answer and advance through four consecutive rounds consisting of a combo of questions and sound bites relating to the Super Bowl.

While I have added a few questions of my own, the majority of the list below includes contest questions “The Marquis” has been confounding contestants with already. Think you can collect these answers in one workday? Russo’s contestants get about 10 seconds to answer one!

1.)  Name the teams with overall losing records in Super Bowls that have won at least one Super Bowl.

2.)  Vince Lombardi coached two sports at Fordham University. What were they?

3.)  En route to winning the game’s MVP award, Desmond Howard returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in Super Bowl XXI. Who kicked the ball off to Howard?

4.)  The Rose Bowl has hosted five Super Bowls. Which winning team saw the most stadium spectators?

5.)  Which team was the first wild card representative to win a Super Bowl?

6.)  Which Super Bowl MVP is also the NFL’s career leader in combined net yards?

7.)  Name the only team to win a Super Bowl in four different decades.

8.)  Name the ex-Jet assistant coach to win a Super Bowl as a head coach.

9.)  Name the first future hall of fame player to score in a Super Bowl.

10.) How many Super Bowl starting quarterbacks attended college in Texas?

11.) Who are the only two players to play in an MLB game and a Super Bowl?

12.) Name the first player to lose a Super Bowl before eventually winning Super Bowl MVP.

13.) Who is the only Canadian-born Super Bowl MVP?

15.) Who holds the Super Bowl record for most all-purpose yards?

16.) Name the only Seahawk and Patriot players enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame that also played in a Super Bowl.

17.) Who has the record for longest interception return for a touchdown in Super Bowl history?

18.) Name the only school that won the NCAA men’s basketball national championship the same year an alumni happened to be a starting quarterback in the Super Bowl.

19.) In terms of time of possession, who quarterbacked the longest scoring drive in Super Bowl history?

20.) One quarterback is responsible for holding the top three performances, in terms of single-game passing yards thrown, in a Super Bowl. Who is it?
