Oakland Raiders: Top 3 Free Agents To Target This Offseason

Doesn’t it seem every few years the Oakland Raiders are doing the same thing over and over again? The changing of quarterbacks, the changing of coaches, the changing of culture in the bay area. When will the team get to a stopping point and start moving forward?

Hopefully the team has found the right coach to make that happen. When Jack Del Rio was introduced to the media in Oakland, it showed the team was committed to improving the defense, and its future in the NFL.

Del Rio is no stranger to coaching, having led Jacksonville for nine seasons and two playoff berths. Oakland would like to just break even in 2015 as a starting point as the past two seasons have yielded just seven wins.

Del Rio took a big step in trying to improve the team’s offense by hiring Bill Musgrave as offensive coordinator. As Bill Williamson of ESPN.com explains, Musgrave was Del Rio’s offensive coordinator in Jacksonville in 2003-04 before being fired after the Jaguars were 30th in the NFL in scoring. Clearly, that parting of the ways isn’t a problem for Del Rio or Musgrave more than a decade later.

The other assistant Del Rio has hired in Oakland is offensive line coach Mike Tice, who spent time with Del Rio in Jacksonville as well.

Can these two, and whoever Del Rio adds to his staff turn this team around and into a winning combination? Here are three free agents to look at as the Raiders start a new year that could help the team get there.
