2015 Baylor Bears Preview: Schedule Preview & Outlook
The 2014 season for the Baylor Bears was one of the most magical in their program’s history. They were in contention to be one of the final four teams in the first annual College Football Playoff. The Bears rallied from 21 down against TCU in mid October to help keep their playoff hopes alive, but would see them evaporate the following week against West Virginia.
The Bears put up impressive offensive numbers once again with Bryce Petty as quarterback. Petty, now a member of the New Jets after being drafted in the 2015 NFL Draft was the engine that made the Baylor offense go. The Bears now must replace Petty and hope to continue to display their explosive offense in a highly competitive Big 12.
The 2015 season for Baylor offers some very intriguing matchups for the reigning Big 12 co-champs. Baylor has a very weak nonconference schedule with games against SMU, Lamar and Rice. This was the deciding factor that kept them out of the 2014 College Football Playoff and will not do them any favors again in 2015.
The Bears blew a 21 point lead in the Cotton Bowl last season against Michigan State, which is ironic for the fact they rallied from 21 down to keep TCU out of the first annual College Football Playoff.
2015 will be an adjusting period for the entire Baylor Bears’ program, but with Art Briles at the helm the future appears to be bright in Waco, Texas.
