The Final Spot: Quarterbacks For The Millionaire Maker Part 3

Play fantasy football for a one MILLION dollar first place prize FREE, ffchamps.com/million TODAY.
Enter by opening a Draftkings account with only a $25 deposit.  Upon deposit, you will get a FREE $27 entry into the Millionaire Maker, this weekends $1 million dollar game and a FREE FFChamps membership for the entire NFL season. Spots are limited.

So maybe for some reason last week didn't work out for you and you didn't win the million dollars.  And maybe it REALLY didn't work out for you and you didn't win anything.  No problem!  You've got another chance to make up for it this Sunday.  And if you've waited to fill your quarterback spot with your last pick, you've still got some options under $6000.

Derek Carr  $5800

Let's be clear that if you're starting Carr you better have some studs at your other spots.  Last week Carr put on a show and just narrowly missed leading his team to a win over the Chargers.  This week he'll have another chance to put some points on the board against Arizona.  With the Cardinals giving up the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs, you can count on Carr airing it out all day long.  And while they are good at stopping the run, they give up the fifth most points to opposing quarterbacks and second most to opposing receivers.

Brian Hoyer  $5600

So you've probably heard that the Browns are a run first offense and so far that has worked out well for them.  But when a team takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars they become a run/pass/catch/put-points-on-the-board-how-ever-they-want-to offense. You already know that the Jaguars are terrible and Hoyer has shown that he is at least a good game manager if not a capable quarterback.  Against the Jaguars, the only fear is that the Browns get an early lead and give the combination of Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell the ball the rest of the game.

Between the two I would go with Carr.  He has more upside because his team will be chasing points and they won't be able to get a running game going.  If by some chance the Jags get up a couple of scores on the Browns, Hoyer's stats will go up as he throws it more, but I don't think the Jags will ever have the lead and if they do it won't be by much or for very long.  Carr will be in a situation to get you more points because his success will be dependent on whether the Raiders are able to stay in the game.

The Final Spot: Running Backs For The Millionaire Maker Part 3

Bernard Pierce  $3200

All you need to know about Pierce for this Sunday is that he is playing the Atlanta Falcons.  While it looks like Justin Forsett has taken over starting running back duties for the Ravens, Pierce should get some meaningful work.  Last week he got 15 touches.  While he was only able to get 32 yards, he did score.  That's likely what you're counting on here, but the good news is that the Falcons are the worst team against opposing running backs.

Jonathan Stewart  $3700

Somebody has to run the ball for the Carolina Panthers right?  After a few weeks off with a lingering injury (there seems to always be a lingering injury for Stewart), he looks good to go for this Sunday's game against Green Bay. The Packers are 23rd against opposing running backs and have already given up some nice stats to those RB's. The fear here is not that another running back will take over the carries from Stewart, but that Cam Newton will not only be the best quarterback for the Panthers, but also the best running back for them.

While the matchup for the Ravens is a good one, at this price range I'm more comfortable with Stewart.  The Panthers and Newton look so much better when Newton runs the ball, but as long as they can get a run game going it doesn't matter if it's Newton or Stewart.  The Panthers are also smart enough to not run their QB into the ground if they don't have to.  When Stewart is healthy he is a good running back that can do some positive things.  Get him in your lineup and get a weeks worth of use out of him.

The Final Spot: Wide Receivers For The Millionaire Maker Part 3

Andrew Hawkins  $3700

So it didn't go so well for you if you took my advice and put this guy in your lineup like I suggested last week.  For the second straight week I'm going to tout Hawkins as a sleeper at wide receiver.  Hawkins past two games have been nothing to get excited over.  After looking like the go to guy in the passing game for Cleveland, he's turned in two duds. This week he has the chance to get back on track with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are giving up the 13th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers and gave up a touchdown a piece to Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd last week.  Hawkins has yet to find the end zone, but this week could be the week he gets back on track.

Justin Hunter $3700

Over the past few weeks Hunter seems to have become more important in the Titans offensive plans.  He's now playing more snaps and has taken over WR2 duties from Nate Washington.  Going up against the Washington Redskins, who give up the 11th most points to opposing wide receivers, Hunter could see the most targets and receptions he's seen all year.  Hunter is an above average player who can make a couple of big plays this weekend and could pay off for you.

Even though Hawkins has had two terrible outings the past two weekends, he is the more reliable player.  Brian Hoyer has shown that he trusts Hawkins ability, while Hunter is still showing people who he is and exactly what he can do.  I'm going with Hawkins at a steal of a price of $3700.

Joique Bell $3700

With the recent news that Bell has been cleared to play and the unlikely chance that Reggie Bush sees the field this Sunday, Bell makes a nice RB to plug in your lineup.  Would I pick him up if he was around $6000? Probably not, but at this price and with running back duties pretty much all to himself this week he makes a great deal. Along with all of this is the injury to Calvin Johnson. Matthew Stafford isn't his best self when Johnson is out and this could allow Bell even more looks and touches.  Minnesotta is 23rd against the opposing running backs and Bell has shown in previous seasons that he is capable of being a productive, every down back.

Jeremy Hill  $3800

Another player who may be able to take advantage of a teammate's injury is Hill.  While he is still second in line behind Giovanni Bernard, the Bengals will be dependant on their run game with A.J. Green and Marvin Jones out of the game.  Carolina seems to be figuring out some things on defense and becoming more like the defensive front they were last year, but if the Bengals are going to win it will have a lot to do with their running backs.  Expect Hill to see meaningful possessions and chances to score in this game.

While both players are similarly priced I would go with Bell.  I might lean toward Hill if he was at the minimum salary, but he's a little overpriced for me when Bell is sitting there with the starting job staring him in the face. Take Bell and watch it pay off for you.

Andrew Hawkins  $4600

Last Sunday was the first time this season Hawkins caught less than five balls.  Expect that to change this weekend against Pittsburgh.  Having caught eight balls for 87 yards already against the Steelers, Hawkins will be back to his old ways with a high number of targets and catches.  Hawkins has yet to score this season, but if he can find the endzone just once he will have a monster day.

Rueben Randle  $4600

At the same price as Hawkins, Eli Manning's favorite red zone target should have a great day.  He's had ten targets in each of the past three games and playing against an Eagles team that likes to see if they can beat their previous weeks play attempts, he might see more than that on Sunday. This game has an O/U of 50 and Randle will likely be one of the players who helps get it over that target.

Davonte Adams  $3000

A WR at minimum salary that you might consider is Adams.  Aaron Rodgers said earlier this week that he would like to try and get Adams the ball more, as he's been burning his coverage and getting open.  While it's somewhat of a tough matchup, Adams has shown that he can be a reliable wide receiver for the Packers and Rodgers may choose to go to him early to get him going.  If you need a cheap fill in at this spot, Adams is your guy.

Even with all of the targets that Hawkins gets, I'm going with Randle.  There will be a ton of points scored in this game and Randle has shown that he is a consistent part of the game plan.  The Eagles give up the most touchdowns to quarterbacks and and Eli will add to that number on at least one and possibly two connections with Randle.

Jordan Cameron  $3600

Cameron seems to have been forgotten about after being out with an injury.  Last week he got back in to the swing of things although not as much as Browns fans would have liked.  Facing the Steelers this weekend, Cameron will look to get back to his TE1 ways as the Steelers are 21st against opposing tight ends.  The Browns did get Ben Tate back last week and this will open up some space for Cameron and other receivers as the Steelers will have to stop the Browns run game.  Look for Cameron to have a break out game and find the end zone.

Tim Wright  $3000

If you've stacked your lineup with some of the elite players, then you may have no other choice than to fill in your tight end spot with a minimum salary player.  With Wright, that will be no problem.  Wright put himself on the radar last week with five catches for 85 yards and a score.  Buffalo is in the middle of the pack when it comes to defending the tight end.  What Wright has on his side is that Buffalo will likely be trying to defend Rob Gronkowski, not Wright.  Plug Wright in only if you have other studs who can make up for him if he has a dud game, but I don't think that will be the case.

I'm going with Cameron if I have the funds.  He has proven that he has top tier tight end skills and will get the chance to showcase them this weekend.

Washington Redskins  $2500

This pick will depend on who starts at quarterback for the Cardinals.  Washington is the worst team in the league against opposing quarterbacks so I would only feel comfortable starting them if Logan Thomas were starting under center for Arizona.  On the year the Redskins have 14 sacks and two interceptions to go along with three forced fumbles.  If the rookie is forced to start the Redskins have the possibility to do some damage on the defensive front.

Jacksonville Jaguars  $2600

This is likely the only week you might even consider starting the Jaguars defense, but if you do and they do well you can feel pretty good about being one of the few who starts them.  On the year the Jags have sacked opposing quarterbacks 16 times.  They only have one interception, but have forced four fumbles.  To Jacksonvilles advantage, the Titans are likely going to start backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst.  Make no mistake, these are two bad football teams and someone is going to score some points somehow.  Maybe the Jags defense can put some points on the board.

If you are in this spot and you have to pick a cheap defense you should definitely have a stacked lineup with multiple stud players at your skill positions.  Neither of these choices are ideal, but if I had to choose one I would probably go with the Redskins IF Logan Thomas is starting for the Cardinals.  The Redskins have shown that they can compete where the Jaguars, outside of last week, have not.

So maybe for some reason last week didn't work out for you and you didn't win the million dollars.  And maybe it REALLY didn't work out for you and you didn't win anything.  No problem!  You've got another chance to make up for it this Sunday.  And if you've waited to fill your quarterback spot with your last pick, you've still got some options under $6800

Kirk Cousins  $6700

Cousins just came off a surprisingly close loss to the Seattle Seahawks.  If you're looking for the quarterback that is going to take your home team to a win, Cousins may not be the guy from week to week.  But we're not looking for wins, just fantasy points.  Arizona is 28th against opposing quarterback and just got torched by Peyton Manning. Cousins is obviously no Peyton Manning, but he has shown that he has the skills to be a threat under center. Every quarterback that has faced the Cardinals has gotten at least 250 yards and at least one touchdown, except for Philip Rivers, who tallied 248 total yards.  Cousins has thrown for at least 250 yards in every game he's played in this season and has scored at least two touchdowns in every game except for his awful game against New York. Arizona gives up the fewest points to opposing running backs and the most points to opposing wide receivers.

Tony Romo $6100

If nothing else you can bet that you'll be one of the few people who start Romo.  The matchup is better than you think.  The Seahawks are 21st against opposing quarterbacks.  And while they did face three of the top quarterbacks in the league in their first three games, they did just allow the aformentioned Cousins to throw for 283 yards and two touchdowns.  Romo has started to heat up and has nine touchdowns on the season.  Seattle gives up the third fewest points to opposing running backs.  I know that Demarco Murray is good, but he won't be the Murray that we've seen all season this coming Sunday.  The Cowboys will be airing it out this weekend.

Ideally it would be great to get a quarterback that costs a little more.  But if this is the spot you're in, then you should be fine.  Of the two choices, I would go with Cousins.  I think Romo will have the opportunity to score points because the Cowboys will be chasing points all day, but I want no part of Seattle, at home, coming off a game that they should have dominated in more than they did against the Redskins.  The Cardinals have some major issues all over the place and this could be a high scoring game with teams going back and forth.

The Final Spot: FLEX Edition-Who To Fill Your Last Spot

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

So by now you've filled all of your other spots and you're down to the FLEX spot.  If you've got any amount around or over $5000 you've got plenty of options, so let's make it a little more difficult and assume you only have $3,000, which is the minimum amount for any position player.  If you are in this situation you should have some very solid guys at the other positions.  There are quite a few options so I'm going to hit on each of them quickly.  All of these guys are $3,000.

Khiry Robinson

Robinson has had some great games and just hasn't found the end zone.  This might be the last game before Mark Ingram comes back which could be more motivation for Robinson to do well.

Lorenzo Taliaferro

Who knows what's going on with the Ravens running back situation.  But Taliaferro is a part of it and he looks to be the most athletic of the bunch.  If Bernard Pierce is out, Taliaferro will get some good opportunities.

Jeremy Hill

Hill will take a back seat to Gio Bernard unless Bernard gets hurt, but that doesn't mean Hill can't be valuable for you.  The Bengals will likely try and do what the Chiefs just did to the Patriots and that means more opportunity for Hill.

Darrin Reaves

This is strictly a pick based on the volume that this player will get.  He's going to start in the Panthers backfield and will get his touches.  This should be a high scoring game and somebody has to run the ball for the Panthers.

Allen Robinson

Jacksonville will be playing catch up all day and somebody will have to catch the ball.  Bortles doesn't look bad and the Jags should be able to score some points against the Steelers.

Odell Beckham Jr.

Make sure he's active and if he is he might do something for you.  The Giants have figured out some things lately and the weak Atlanta defense will do whatever they can (which won't be much) to stop Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle which should leave Beckham with some chances.

Andre Williams

Atlanta is terrible against the run and although Williams doesn't get as many chances as Rashad Jennings he should get some and could break off a few good runs.

Alfred Blue

If Arian Foster is out, Blue is a RB2, at worst, for $3000.

Luke Wilson

Wilson moves into the lineup with the injury to Zach Miller.  Russell Wilson will find him if he needs him.  Could score.

Legarratte Blount

Won't get the bulk of the carries, but could do well with the carries he does get against the terrible run defense of Jacksonville.

Travis Kelce

Don't know if you want to fill your FLEX spot with a tight end, but the price on this guy is ridiculous.  He's easily a TE1 for the rest of the year.  The Chiefs have to get him the ball to have a chance to win.

Clay Harbor

Another TE, Harbor caught all eight passes thrown to him last week and Jacksonville will be playing catch up all day.

Miles Austin

Has caught a touchdown each of the last two weeks.

The Final Spot: Defense Edition-Who To Fill Your Last Spot

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

If you've waited to pick your defense last, you might have to do some searching and have a little luck.  Let's look at a worst case scenario and assume you have less than $2500 left to spend on your defense.

Kansas City Chiefs  $2300

One advantage you'll have by picking the Chiefs is that not many people are going to have them in their lineup. Although San Francisco hasn't been the San Fran of old, their name and recent success over the past few years will keep most people away from the Chiefs defense.  But it's not all bad news for the Chiefs.  So far the Chiefs have held every quarterback they've faced to less than 270 yards.  And while they've faced some less than stellar talent at QB, they have faced Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.  Manning threw three touchdowns on them, but Colin Kaepernick is no Peyton Manning.  They've also been decent against wide receivers, allowing only one touchdown a game to opposing WR's.  They've only had two WR's to go for more than 100 yards against them (Emmanuel Sanders and Brandon LaFell).  They've been even better against running backs, not allowing any RB touchdowns whether receiving or running.  Lamar Miller is the only RB to go over 100 yards against them.  While they have allowed four tight end touchdowns, they keep their yardage low.  Through four games the Chiefs have allowed 26 points versus the Titans (fluke game), 24 versus Denver, 15 versus Miami, and 14 versus the Patriots. Kaepernick has also been sacked 10 times and have thrown the ball to the other team four times.  The Chiefs are heading in the right direction and you could do worse.

And that's it!  There is absolutely no one else I would want at less then $2500.  The Jets may be worth a look, as Rex Ryan has had moderate success in defending Philip Rivers and the Jets run defense is legit.  But I don't want to go against Rivers as hot as he is right now.  Baltimore might be an option, but not against Andrew Luck.  So if you have to go with someone who is this cheap, the Chiefs are your best bet.

The Final Spot: Wide Receiver Edition-Who To Fill Your Last Spot

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

Once you get down to your last roster spot you feel like if you can make this last pick a good one that you've got a head up on the competition.  When it comes to wide receivers, there are more options at this position than any other.  While you won't be able to pick up the top tier WR's with less than $6,000, you can still pick a very solid fantasy producer with your last pick.

Vincent Jackson  $5900

At just under $6000 Jackson could make for an under-owned, sleeper pick.  There will definitely be people who pass on him, due to his lack of production so far on the season.  His week was saved last Sunday with the game winning touchdown.  But don't discount the possibilities with Jackson in your lineup.  He has been targeted at least seven times in every game this season with a game high 10 targets from new starting quarteback Mike Glennon, who he has a great history and rapport with.  Also remember that Mike Evans is nursing an injury and could miss this game, leaving Jackson with more responsibility and opportunity.  For New Orleans part they haven't done much to stop opposing number one wide outs.  They are 28th against opposing wide receivers and have given up big numbers to players like Julio Jones (7/166), Roddy White (5/72/1), and Terrence Williams (6/77/2).

Brian Quick  $5900

Also at $5900 is the Rams number one receiver, Quick.  Quick will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles who are even worse than the Saints at containg opposing WR's.  This should be a high scoring game and if St. Louis is going to stay in it someone is going to have to score some points and Quick will have to be a part of the action. Quick had nine targets in Weeks 1 and 2 for 99 and 74 yards respectively, but only four targets in Week 3 for 62 yards and a touchdown.  The Rams are coming off their bye week which should allow Quick to be well rested for this game.  The Eagles have had three opposing receivers to go over 100 yards in a game and each of those players scored at least one touchdown.

Marques Colston  $5400

At $500 less than the previous two players, Colston could have a big day.  Playing against the worst team against opposing wide outs, Colston will look to find yards and the end zone.  Colston's productivity has fluctuated from week to week, but he will get targets and he has scored once already.  The Bucs have given up two 100+ yard games to opposing WR's and each of them scored twice.  Other receivers that they have played have racked up nice yardage.  The key here is to find the Saints receiver who will be the number one receiver for Drew Brees on Sunday which is easier said than done.

All three of these players are usable, but I would go with Jackson.  His upside is increased with Glennon under center and if Evans is out he will have to step his game up even more.  He is getting the targets and is a big target himself.  What's even better is that this game will likely be a shootout.  Expect Jackson to have his biggest game of the season.
