Play fantasy football for a one MILLION dollar first place prize FREE, ffchamps.com/million TODAY.
Enter by opening an at account at ffchamps.com/million with only a $25 deposit.  Upon deposit, you will get a FREE $27 entry into the Millionaire Maker, this weekends $1 million dollar game and a FREE FFChamps membership for the entire NFL season. Spots are limited.

So maybe for some reason last week didn't work out for you and you didn't win the million dollars. And maybe it REALLY didn't work out for you and you didn't win anything.  No problem!  You've got another chance to make up for it this Sunday.  And if you've waited to fill your wide receiver spot with your last pick, you've still got some options under $3800.

Andrew Hawkins  $3700

So it didn't go so well for you if you took my advice and put this guy in your lineup like I suggested last week.  For the second straight week I'm going to tout Hawkins as a sleeper at wide receiver.  Hawkins past two games have been nothing to get excited over.  After looking like the go to guy in the passing game for Cleveland, he's turned in two duds. This week he has the chance to get back on track with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are giving up the 13th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers and gave up a touchdown a piece to Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd last week.  Hawkins has yet to find the end zone, but this week could be the week he gets back on track.

Justin Hunter $3700

Over the past few weeks Hunter seems to have become more important in the Titans offensive plans.  He's now playing more snaps and has taken over WR2 duties from Nate Washington.  Going up against the Washington Redskins, who give up the 11th most points to opposing wide receivers, Hunter could see the most targets and receptions he's seen all year.  Hunter is an above average player who can make a couple of big plays this weekend and could pay off for you.

Even though Hawkins has had two terrible outings the past two weekends, he is the more reliable player.  Brian Hoyer has shown that he trusts Hawkins ability, while Hunter is still showing people who he is and exactly what he can do.  I'm going with Hawkins at a steal of a price of $3700.

The Final Spot: Wide Receivers For The Millionaire Maker Part 2

Andrew Hawkins  $4600

Last Sunday was the first time this season Hawkins caught less than five balls.  Expect that to change this weekend against Pittsburgh.  Having caught eight balls for 87 yards already against the Steelers, Hawkins will be back to his old ways with a high number of targets and catches.  Hawkins has yet to score this season, but if he can find the endzone just once he will have a monster day.

Rueben Randle  $4600

At the same price as Hawkins, Eli Manning's favorite red zone target should have a great day.  He's had ten targets in each of the past three games and playing against an Eagles team that likes to see if they can beat their previous weeks play attempts, he might see more than that on Sunday. This game has an O/U of 50 and Randle will likely be one of the players who helps get it over that target.

Davonte Adams  $3000

A WR at minimum salary that you might consider is Adams.  Aaron Rodgers said earlier this week that he would like to try and get Adams the ball more, as he's been burning his coverage and getting open.  While it's somewhat of a tough matchup, Adams has shown that he can be a reliable wide receiver for the Packers and Rodgers may choose to go to him early to get him going.  If you need a cheap fill in at this spot, Adams is your guy.

Even with all of the targets that Hawkins gets, I'm going with Randle.  There will be a ton of points scored in this game and Randle has shown that he is a consistent part of the game plan.  The Eagles give up the most touchdowns to quarterbacks and and Eli will add to that number on at least one and possibly two connections with Randle.

Should Dez Bryant Be Paid Like A Top Five Wide Receiver?

Since Dez Bryant emerged on the scene in 2010, he showed potential to become a top five wide receiver in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys selected Bryant with the 24th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Before selecting Bryant, the Cowboys already knew they would be taking a chance on a exceptional player with off the field issues. Bryant was suspended his last season at Oklahoma State for lying to NCAA investigators. Many teams would usually pass on a player with off the field issues, but the Cowboys took a chance on Bryant, and it seems to be paying off. Over the past two seasons, Bryant has accumulated 25 touchdown catches, 185 receptions, and 2,615 yards, which is among the top wide receivers in the NFL. The 2013 Pro Bowler has often been compared to former Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin (who also wore #88).

Lets see where Bryant ranks among the top five wide receiver salaries of the 2014 season. Starting at #5 is Vincent Jackson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who is set to make approximately $11.1 million dollars this season. The 6'5 Jackson has been a large target during his career with the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jackson has never eclipsed 80 receptions in a season, meanwhile Bryant on the other hand has had two straight seasons of at least 92 receptions (92 in 2012 and 93 in 2013). Jackson has also never had a season with more than 9 touchdowns, while Bryant has had 9,12, and 13 the past three seasons. When we take a look at Jackson's career with the San Diego Chargers (before he received his large contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), his career highs in the major categories for receivers were, 68 receptions (2009), 1,167 yards (2009) and 9 touchdowns (2009 and 2011). Clearly Bryant has put up the bigger numbers compared to Jackson's earlier years in San Diego and current time in Tampa Bay.

Next on the list at #4 is Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. Bowe is set to make approximately $11.2 million dollars for the 2014 season. Bowe is similar to Bryant in the fact that they have spent their entire careers with the same team up to this point, but the stats show many differences. Bowe has been on a steady decline since the 2010 season, when he had career highs in receiving yards (1,162) and touchdowns (15). Injuries are a major factor in extending a player beyond their current contract. Throughout their careers, Bowe has played 103 games in seven seasons and Bryant 59 games in four seasons (not including the 2014 season). Both players proved themselves quite durable for their respected franchises. Bowe has not been able to come close to his career high numbers from 2010, accumulating only 13 touchdowns the past three seasons (15 in 2010) and only being able to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark once the past three seasons(1,159 in 2011, 801 in 2012, and 673 in 2013). Bowe has proved himself to be a good receiver, but he is not in Dez Bryant's class of talent.

At #3 on the list of highest paid wide receivers for the 2014 season, we have Miami Dolphins' wide receiver Mike Wallace. Wallace is set to make $12 million dollars for the 2014 season. Wallace has been a speedy deep ball threat in Pittsburgh with the Steelers before receiving his 5 year $60 million dollar contract to play with the Miami Dolphins in 2013. Wallace is among smaller receivers at an even 6ft and 200 pounds, meanwhile Bryant is larger and fuller at 6'2 and 220 pounds. Wallace has been known throughout his career as a "deep ball threat", averaging 21.0 yards per catch in 2010 and career long receptions of 82 and 95 yards. Bryant is seen more as an "all around" receiver, his career high in average yards per catch was 15.0 yards in 2012 and his longest reception was 85 yards. Bryant blows Wallace away in the category of yards per game, Bryant has had two straight seasons of at least 77 yards per game (86.4 in 2012 and 77.1 in 2013), on the other hand, Wallace has not been able to average over 70 yards per game since 2011 when he averaged 74.6 yards per game. Wallace has declined over the past two seasons, averaging under 60 yards per game (55.7 in 2012 and 58.1 in 2013). Over the past two seasons, Wallace has failed to reach the 1,000 yard mark (836 yards in 2012 and 930 in 2013, also don't blame the quarterbacks, the best of receivers get open). Wallace has also had 8 or less touchdowns the previous 3 seasons (8 in 2011 and 2012 and 5 in 2013). As previously stated, Bryant dominates in the touchdown category, with 9 touchdowns in 2011, 12 touchdowns in 2012 and 13 touchdowns in 2013 and is not showing any signs of slowing down. Bryant is clearly on the rise and is the all around better receiver than Wallace who has struggled in Miami and those struggles may continue.

Next on the list at #2 highest paid wide receivers for the 2014 season is long time Arizona Cardinals' wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald has been one of the most consistent receivers in the league for 11 years (2014 is Fitzgerald's 11th season) and is a probable candidate to make his way to Canton when his career comes to an end. Along with being a great receiver, Fitzgerald is a great locker room presence and great overall guy off the field. The majority of NFL teams salivate at the sight of a talented player with the characteristics like Fitzgerald's, because they are very hard to come by nowadays. With the current state of the NFL, experiencing problems with domestic violence(Ray Rice and Greg Hardy) and possible child abuse cases (Adrian Peterson), the league needs more players like Fitzgerald. Now lets get to the stats, from 2004-2013 Fitzgerald has been able to overcome the 1,000 yard mark six times, with the most being in 2008 season, when he exploded for 1,431 yards. Fitzgerald has also been able to break 1,400 yards four times (2005,2007, 2008 and 2011). There is no doubt Fitzgerald has been among the top receivers in the league for a decade, but he has also been on a decline the past two seasons, failing to reach the 1,000 yard mark with 798 receiving yards in 2012 and 954 in 2013. Fitzgerald has the edge regarding receiving yards throughout his career but Bryant has been more consistent as of the past few seasons. Fitzgerald has been "o'l reliable" for Arizona, playing in 156 games in 10 seasons (not including the 2014 season). Fitzgerald and Bryant have very similar statistics in the category of receiving touchdowns, both having career highs of 13 touchdowns in a season. Fitzgerald has been able to accumulate 87 touchdowns in his prestigious 10 year career, while Bryant has obviously not played as many seasons as Fitzgerald, but is on his way to stardom with 40 touchdowns in 4 seasons (not including the four touchdowns in the 2014 season). Lastly, Fitzgerald has been able to haul in over 80 receptions in 7 of his 10 seasons as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, including career highs with 100 in 2007 and 103 in 2005. Bryant has proved himself as a top receiver posting back to back seasons of 90+ receptions, over 1,200 yards and 12+ touchdowns. Fitzgerald has clearly had a better career up to this point and has a legitimate shot of making it to Canton when his career is over, but Bryant is on the rise and shows flashes of greatness out on the field on sundays. If Bryant continues on this path he has an opportunity to put up better numbers than Fitzgerald when it is all said and done.

At #1 on the list, arguable one of the best wide receivers to ever put on pads, Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions. Johnson is set to top wide receivers in salary this season with $16.2 million dollars. The 4x Pro Bowler has been wrecking havoc in the NFL since he entered the league as a rookie in 2007. At 6'5, Johnson is among the larger receivers in the game and is blessed with freakish athletic ability at that size. Prior to the Cowboys vs Lions game in week 8 of the 2013 season, Bryant was on the record saying "I believe I can do whatever he can do. I think it's just a pride thing. When it comes to football, just being on the field, it's a mindset and having a mentality. I honestly believe when I'm there, I'll be feeling like there's nothing I can't do. Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I'm going to do it.I always feel like there's more. I think that's just a mindset you're supposed to have." Johnson made it his mission to go out there and prove Bryant wrong. Johnson ended the game with 329 receiving yards(2nd most all-time in a single game) and a touchdown, while Bryant had a quality game himself with 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Johnson has been on another level his entire career, breaking the record for most receiving yards in one season with 1,964 yards in 2012. Johnson has been the definition of consistent in his illustrious career with the mediocre Detroit Lions, being selected to the NFL First Team All-Pro 3x and leading the NFL in receiving yards 2x. Since the 2011 season, Johnson has averaged 100.6 receptions per season, 1,712.3 receiving yards per season, and 11.0 touchdowns per season. Bryant falls short in each of these categories except touchdowns, with 82.6 receptions per season, 1,181 receiving yards per season and 11.3 touchdowns per season. There is a reason Johnson tops the list of highest paid wide receivers, and there is no doubt that when his career is over he will be looked at as possibly the greatest wide receiver to ever step foot on a football field. Bryant loses this battle but seriously who wouldn't?

After evaluating the top five paid wide receivers for the 2014 season, it is clear that Dez Bryant SHOULD be paid as a top five wide receiver after the 2014 season. Bryant is an emotional team leader for the Dallas Cowboys and gives his all every time he steps on the field. He is a major competitor and loyal teammate, always having the backs of his teammates. Bryant constantly defends his quarterback, Tony Romo, who usually takes a beating from the press. Along with putting up top statistical numbers, he has a ton of heart and is determined to help the Cowboys win in any possible way. Bryant has been on the record saying "I want to be a Cowboy for life", clearly making Jerry Jones and the rest of the Cowboy's staff overjoyed. I predict that Bryant will give the Cowboys somewhat of a "hometown discount" but will definitely be paid among the top wide receivers in the NFL.

Below you’ll find Over-Priced and Best Buys WRs.These are purely my suggestion as to which players come at a reasonable or unreasonable price based on their projected production. Some of them I don’t like based on match-ups while others I love the match-ups but don’t like the price.

It’s important to note you don’t want to ONLY use the Best Buy Players, this is simply a way to find some “sleepers” to fill your lineup.

Best Buy Wide Receivers:

Demaryius Thomas $8,000 vs. Jets: Doesn’t matter if his price was $9,000, the Jets are HORRENDOUS when it comes to stopping the pass.  Thomas came alive in Week 5 and will look to keep fly high over the the Jets in Week 6.

Emmanuel Sanders $6,900 vs. Jets: Don’t like repeating myself but the Jets are HORRENDOUS when it comes to stopping the pass. Shockingly Sanders still hasn’t scored a TD in 2014 but is on pace to finish with Top 3 in yards and Top 3 in catches.

Brandon Marshall $6,300 vs. Falcons: He’s practicing in full and the ankle injury is getting better by the day. Three straight weeks of single digit fantasy points come to an end in Week 6 with Marshall facing a terrible Falcons secondary.

Percy Harvin $5,400 vs. Cowboys: If you only looked at the box score from Week 5 Monday Night Football, you missed out on seeing Percy Harvin score 3 TDs and then watch as the refs called INSANE penalties that negated the scores. Harvin is going to get into the end-zone for the 1st time since Week 2.

ABSOLUTE STEAL: Roddy White $4,800 vs. Bears: I keep going back to the Bears/Falcons match-up because defense is optional for both of these squads. I expect a lot of points and so do the wise guys in Vegas. Look for an 17-24 point outing from Roddy.

BIG RISK SMALL PRICE: Rueben Randle $4,600 vs; Eagles: With Odell Beckham Jr. now in action, most think Randle’s targets are projected to take a hit. But I disagree. Randle is leading the Giants in targets and catches and Eli LOVES looking in his direction when in the Red-Zone. Let everyone else jump on the rookie while you ride Randle to the bank in one of his best match-ups of the year.

Over Price Wide Receivers:

Jeremy Maclin $6,800 vs, Giants: Maclin has been good in 2014 but not priced higher than Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, or Steve Smith Sr. good. Match-up is solid but the price is too rich for our blood for a guy that is averaging just 5.5 catches per game.

Mike Wallace $5,900 vs. Packers: Wallace has scored in 3 of 4 games this year and yet only averages 14 fantasy points each week…that doesn’t add up and it’s because he’s also averaging just 4 catches per game with a mediocre 50 yards per outing. If he doesn’t get into the end-zone he’s a HUGE waste.

Eddie Royal $5,500 vs. Raiders: I can’t stress this enough…Eddie Royal is absolute Fools Gold. Remember back to last year when he had 5 TDs in 3 games all in September and then completely fall off in October? What that trend is happening all over again here in 2014.

James Jones $5,100 vs. Chargers: I don’t want to waste your team with analysis and instead will just say HE PLAYS FOR THE RAIDERS…

The Final Spot: Wide Receiver Edition-Who To Fill Your Last Spot

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

Once you get down to your last roster spot you feel like if you can make this last pick a good one that you've got a head up on the competition.  When it comes to wide receivers, there are more options at this position than any other.  While you won't be able to pick up the top tier WR's with less than $6,000, you can still pick a very solid fantasy producer with your last pick.

Vincent Jackson  $5900

At just under $6000 Jackson could make for an under-owned, sleeper pick.  There will definitely be people who pass on him, due to his lack of production so far on the season.  His week was saved last Sunday with the game winning touchdown.  But don't discount the possibilities with Jackson in your lineup.  He has been targeted at least seven times in every game this season with a game high 10 targets from new starting quarteback Mike Glennon, who he has a great history and rapport with.  Also remember that Mike Evans is nursing an injury and could miss this game, leaving Jackson with more responsibility and opportunity.  For New Orleans part they haven't done much to stop opposing number one wide outs.  They are 28th against opposing wide receivers and have given up big numbers to players like Julio Jones (7/166), Roddy White (5/72/1), and Terrence Williams (6/77/2).

Brian Quick  $5900

Also at $5900 is the Rams number one receiver, Quick.  Quick will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles who are even worse than the Saints at containg opposing WR's.  This should be a high scoring game and if St. Louis is going to stay in it someone is going to have to score some points and Quick will have to be a part of the action. Quick had nine targets in Weeks 1 and 2 for 99 and 74 yards respectively, but only four targets in Week 3 for 62 yards and a touchdown.  The Rams are coming off their bye week which should allow Quick to be well rested for this game.  The Eagles have had three opposing receivers to go over 100 yards in a game and each of those players scored at least one touchdown.

Marques Colston  $5400

At $500 less than the previous two players, Colston could have a big day.  Playing against the worst team against opposing wide outs, Colston will look to find yards and the end zone.  Colston's productivity has fluctuated from week to week, but he will get targets and he has scored once already.  The Bucs have given up two 100+ yard games to opposing WR's and each of them scored twice.  Other receivers that they have played have racked up nice yardage.  The key here is to find the Saints receiver who will be the number one receiver for Drew Brees on Sunday which is easier said than done.

All three of these players are usable, but I would go with Jackson.  His upside is increased with Glennon under center and if Evans is out he will have to step his game up even more.  He is getting the targets and is a big target himself.  What's even better is that this game will likely be a shootout.  Expect Jackson to have his biggest game of the season.

2014 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Busts

It's a sad day at the FFChamps.com Headquarters when two of our favorite receivers over the last 10-15 season makes the Bust List. Nonetheless we have to call a Spade a  Spade and for that reason Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne find themselves in the article. We also tell you some other veteran receivers to stay away from plus two rookies on our DO NOT DRAFT LIST.

Andre Johnson, Houston Texans: If you play in Non-PPR leagues, Johnson is practically useless. He just doesn’t get in the end zone and has never, we repeat, NEVER had a season with double digit TDs. At age 33 we don’t expect Johnson to completely drop-off, in fact we still project him to finish with over 85 catches, but again in Non-PPR leagues, those receptions are worthless. Remember Commandment Number 1: Know They Scoring System.

Percy Harvin, Seattle Seahawks: Other than a few snaps in the closing weeks of the regular season and some spectacular plays in the Super Bowl, we never really got to see Percy's true playmaking ability in a Seattle uniform. Without a doubt, he's Russell Wilson's top target but Harvin has to stay healthy, something he’s NEVER done in his 5 year career. Something else Harvin has NEVER done…surpass 1,000 yards. It’s hard to believe a player with his reputation isn’t even a 1,000 yard receiver, nonetheless it’s true.

Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles: If he can come back from last year's ACL tear and stay healthy in 2014, Maclin would finally be able to live up to his potential, especially in Chip Kelly's Offense. With DeSean Jackson off the squad, Maclin is now the Number 1 in Philly's Offense…but a brief injury scare in the team’s 3rd preseason game just reminded us how injury prone Maclin truly is. Like Percy, Maclin has NEVER surpassed 1,000 yards. If you draft him as your WR3 that’s fine, but there’s absolutely no need to reach for him or feel confident if he’s your Number 2. Oh and by the way, Maclin has the 2nd hardest schedule for Wide Receivers based on 2013’s defensive points allowed.

Cecil Shorts, Jacksonville Jaguars: A talented receiver on a team with a poor QB, Shorts is unfortunately capped out by Chad Henne or rookie Blake Bortles. The Jags drafted two wide receivers in the 2nd round this year and Coach Gus Bradley wants to get them on the field which shouldn’t be difficult because Shorts is often injured. In fact, he’s missed 3/4 of Training Camp because of a hamstring strain. A similar injury kept him out of 3 games in 2013. His 7 TD and nearly 1,000 yard season from 2012 seems like his peak, all down-hill from here.

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The 2nd wide receiver taken in the 2014 draft, Evans is a big, tall, and strong athlete, just like Josh Mccown had in Chicago with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey. He's a bit raw in his route running but physicality will make up for it. That being said, Rookie WRs tend to struggle, hell even Calvin Johnson had less than 50 catches and only 4 TDs as a rookie, and he’s MEGATRON. There are some rookie WRs we like (Watkins, Cooks, Benjamin, Matthews) but want our members to pump the breaks on Evans for 2014.

Odell Beckham Jr, New York Giants: The Giants wanted to add some playmakers to their "broken" Offense via the draft and did just that by selecting the former LSU star with the Number 12 overall pick. He's quick, elusive, and can jump through the roof, but he has ZERO reps with the Giants 1st team Offense this summer thanks to a nagging hamstring injury that dates back to Mini-Camp. Beckham may have been the 3rd WR off the board in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he shouldn’t even be drafted in your 2014 Fantasy Re-Draft League.

Danny Amendola, New England Patriots: Expected to replace Wes Welker as Tom Brady's most reliable target in 2013, Amendola ended up with a groin injury early in the season which put a serious cap on his fantasy production. Amendola is quickly joining the likes of Darren McFadden as a player that can't be trusted due to his fragility. The last time he played a full 16 games season was in 2010, since then he's played in 1 game in 2011, 11 games in 2012, and 12 games in 2013.

Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts: It really stings to put Wayne on our 2014 WR Bust list. He’s been one of our favorite (and most productive) fantasy receivers over the last 10 years. But father time is catching up to the veteran pass catcher. An ACL tear forced him to miss half the season which was the 1st time he’s missed a game since his rookie year in 2001. Wayne’s a player who consistently had close to double digit TDs, but he hasn’t found the end-zone more than 6 times in any of the last four seasons. He’s 35 years old now and still the Colts best route runner, but with so many other weapons on the roster, Wayne will be pressed for targets from Andrew Luck.

Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs: He entered camp 10 pounds lighter than last year, which is good news since Bowe looked slow in 2013 but a busted finger and a suspension to start the year is just the beginning of why we are labeling him a bust this year. How’s this for some alarming stats: Back-to-Back years with less than 60 receptions. Back-to-back years with less than 6 TDs. Back-to-Back years with less than 825 receiving yards. He was a monster in 2010 with 15 TDs, but you know what…that was 5 freaking years ago!!!
