Johnny Manziel Could Help Cleveland By Displaying Patience

Cleveland made some big moves in the 2014 NFL Draft, one of which was trading up with their second first round selection to acquire phenom quarterback Johnny Manziel out of Texas A&M University.  Manziel was a beast on the field during his tenure at Texas A&M, and entering the draft, he was the most discussed pick in the first round.  The discussion was over which team would draft him, and which teams would be the perfect fit for his abilities on the field, ranging from the Dallas Cowboys to the New York Jets.

Brian Hoyer was injured early on last season, so the Browns needed to add a high quality backup to their roster, in the event that Hoyer should go down again this season, or if his performance failed to meet the Browns expectations from their starting quarterback.  Manziel was the perfect fit for Kyle Shanahan's offense out of the quarterbacks available with said pick.

Johnny Manziel was impressive during the pre-season, and talks began swirling around the nation that Cleveland had just created yet another controversy at the position.  Brian Hoyer was etched in as the starter for the Browns, primarily due to his success during the three games he started last season.

Cleveland has been very competitive in the AFC North this season, where they are currently only a half game out of first place, despite being ranked fourth in the division.  Johnny Manziel has been keeping himself primed and ready to go at moments notice, whether he's needed as a starter, or to be utilized on gimmick plays.

The problem for Manziel has been the successful play from starting quarterback Brian Hoyer, who has already thrown for 1,714 yards this season.  Hoyer has also been efficent at the helm, completeing 57% of his passes, while throwing 8 touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions.  His current rating score is 91.0, a rating the Browns haven't witnessed since Derek Anderson's 82.5 rated performance in 2007.  In fact, the last Browns quarterback to finish closest to Hoyer's current rating was Vinny Tesaverde, who had an 87.8 rating in 1995.

Right now this is Brian Hoyer's team, and the starting quarterback job is Brian Hoyer's to lose.  Manziel is a very competitive player and leader on the field, so it's understandable why his impatience continues to grow each week.  That being said, Manziel needs to realize he's in a very good situation right now in Cleveland.

Manziel can benefit by learning from Hoyer, who spent three seasons learning from future Hall of Famer Tom Brady, and head ciach Bill Belichick, while serving as a back up quarterback for the New England Patriots.  The best thing Manziel can do now is learn to display some patience.  His time will come, but he needs to realize that time isn't right now.

NFL Week 8: Tony Romo Will Help You Win Big In Fantasy Football

The winner of this week's $25, 2.5 million dollar entry on FanDuel will win $500,000. These are the players that will lead you to the promise land. You must pick 9 players to make up a team: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, D. Your salary cap is $60,000 while each player's salary is determined by how well they are playing. You have to take risks and you have to do your research if you want to win big. Here are a few teams I think can make you some great money.

QB - Tony Romo - $8,200QB - Russell Wilson - $8,900QB - Carson Palmer - $7,400

D - Cowboys - $4,700D - Cowboys - $4,700D - Houston Texans - $5,100

For these three teams I picked Jamaal Charles, T.Y. Hilton, and Nick Folk on every team. You need to have some players you are 90% positive will have good games on multiple teams. Charles is playing at home against the STL Rams. T.Y. will be going against a weak PITT defense with Reggie Wayne sidelined; Luck will be throwing at T.Y. ALOT. Nick Folk and the Jets are playing at home against Buffalo. Not alot of points should be scored. The Bills have a formidable defense who should be able to shut down Geno Smith in the redzone. Bring on the FGs Folk.

I will be entering these 3 teams but don't mind splitting the $500k with you.

What changes would you make?

How Kirk Cousins Can Help You Win Your DFS Contest

FanDuel is another week to week fantasy football website that has exploded onto the national scene. Every week, diehard football fans are pouring millions of dollars into sites like this to try to creat the perfect lineup that can help them win big! This week's biggest grand prize is $200,000. Here are some tips that could help you win big this weekend.

Best QB Value:

Jay Cutler - $8,700 Cutler is averaging over 20 fantasy points per game (FPPG) and will be playing at home against the Miami Dolphins.

Best Discount QB:

Kirk Cousins - $7,200 Cousins ranks 10th in FFPG but is cheaper than 19 other starting QBs. He has thrown 2 or more TDs in 4 out of 5 games and will be playing the Tennessee Titans in Washington.

Best RB Value:

Ben Tate - $7,300 In his two games back, Tate is averaging 16.25 FPPG. This week the thriving Browns will tee of on one of the worst defenses in the NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars.

Best Discount RB:

Justin Forsett - $6,200 Forsett has taken the reins of the starting job in Baltimore. He is averaging 13.7 FPPG, 10th in the NFL, and will be facing the 31st worst rushing defense, the Atlanta Falcons.

Best WR Value:

Mike Wallace - $7,000 Wallace is averaging 13.4 FPPG, just below Dez Bryant's 14.3 FPPG who costs $8,600. The Dolphins will be traveling to Chicago to play a very inconsistent Bears defense.

Best Discount WR:

James Jones - $5,500 Jones is a steal at this price. He is averaging 12.4 FPPG which is 16th in the NFL. The Raiders will be playing at home this week after an incredible performance last week by rookie QB Derek Carr.

Best Value TE:

Delanie Walker - $5,900 Delanie is #1 in the NFL in TE receiving yards yet he is the 6th most expensive TE.

Best Discount TE:

Tim Wright - $5,300 He has found the endzone in two straight games for the Patriots and could be a good option if you are trying to save money for other positions.

Tips And Tricks To Pick A Team:

  • Try to only pick #1 or #2 option WRs
  • Pick RBs who will be guaranteed carries. Not RBs on a running back by committee team who might see 20 carries one game and 5 carries the next.
  • Pick a defense going against struggling QBs, those QBs playing on the road would be even better
  • If you enter multiple teams, do not pick 45 different players on 5 different teams. You should have some overlapping players on every team.
  • You typically end up 1 or 2 players away from good money so pick similar teams with a few changes on each team. You will have a better chance of succeeding.
  • Do not blindly pick superstars. Look at matchups. How good is the defense that player is facing? Are they playing on the road?

If you win big money this week, my cut is only 5%. Only kidding, let me know who you're dream team is this week and how it turns out on Sunday.

How Can A Zombie Help You Win One Million Dollars?

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

Detroit Lions Rookie Tight End Eric Ebron appears to have hit the dreaded 'rookie wall'. In describing his feelings to the Detroit Free Press, Ebron explained "You start to get zombified sooner or later" and how "you just turn into a zombie mentally."

Detroit welcomes the Buffalo Bills this week for a 1pm kickoff. Buffalo comes in at 2-2 on the year following last week's 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans. Detroit stands at 3-1, having dispatched of the New York Jets 24-17 in Week 4.

Ebron saw increased action last week with starting TE Joseph Fauria out due to an ankle injury. The rookie finished the day with a line of 3/34/1 on 4 targets. Encouraging signs for the rookie, he could continue to see a decent amount of looks if Fauria remains out. Ebron's salary this week is a paltry $3,000. Just by matching last week's production, his point total will be 12.4. In a salary cap tournament structure with a $50,000 salary cap such as this one -  www.FFChamps.com/million - you will need players that can at a minimum provide 4x value.

What does this mean? For each $1,000 in salary cap you spend, you need to expect a return of 4. So for a $50,000 salary cap, you're setting a base of 200 points. Will 200 points mean that you win? Probably not, in a large tournament held under the same structure last weekend (but not for ONE MILLION DOLLARS), the top spot scored 236.54. Even at 4x return, you'll still need some players to exceed that multiple and for things to break right everywhere else.

When choosing your rosters, ask yourself a few simple questions: Can this player provide me 4x return on his salary? If yes, good candidate to include. If no, probably better to look elsewhere. Can this player provide me more than 4x return on his salary? If yes, keep him on the short list for inclusion. Ebron, at $3,000, could provide a decent return on investment as you play this weekend -   www.FFChamps.com/million.

LaMichael James Joins Dolphins. Does This Help Your Team?

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

If you've never played fantasy before now is the time to try.  Here's your chance to win big.  For only $27 dollars take your shot at a big win. Top 15,500 players win money and no matter where you place you'll get a matching deposit bonus along with a free subscription to FFCHAMPS.  Right now there are less than 20,000 people signed up so the odds are in your favor.  Even if the game fills up every one out of six people will win atleast $40.  So go ahead and take two minutes to sign up and get ready to win some money.

Earlier this afternoon LaMichael James joined the Miami Dolphins in what will be a little more of a crowded backfield once Knowshon Moreno gets back.  Having spent time on the bench behind Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde, there wasn't much promise for James with the San Francisco 49ers.  Now with the Dolphins it's possible for James to get more playing time (ANY playing time would be an upgrade to what he was getting in San Francisco), even if it's just to give Lamar Miller and Moreno a breather. James could be a talented running back and if nothing else an insurance policy for the injury prone duo that is already in Miami.

How A Puppy Could Help You Win A Million Dollars

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

Earlier this week, Joseph Fauria, TE for the Detroit Lions who did not play last week, revealed that he sprained his ankle chasing Lil' Rufio, his 3-month-old Pomeranian/Husky mix puppy, while trying to house-train him.  It didn't end well as Fauria slipped and ended up straining his ankle.  The severity of the injury was not released and his status for this week is still up in the air.

What does this mean for Daily Fantasy players?  Especially with the Big Millionaire Maker contest this weekend, where a single $27 entry could make you a Millionaire!

Well, last Sunday, with Fauria sidelined, Detroits #1 draft pick, Eric Ebron, saw increased action and responded by catching 3 of 4 targets for 34 yards and a touchdown, delivering 12.4 fantasy points.

If Fauria is inactive again this week, versus a Bills defense ranked 22nd against TEs (in week one they allowed 21 fantasy points to Bears TE, Martellus Bennet) and should Detroit's Stud WR(Calvin Johnson) continue to be less than 100%, Ebron should continue to see increased action and become a bigger target for Matthew Stafford.

At $3,000, he would be a definite steal in the TE slot!  His low salary will also let you stock up on other stud players and bring your lineup to victory!

If you are able to make this play and Ebron delivers as expect, you might just be thanking a little 3-month-old puppy for helping you take home the $1,000,000.

So keep your eye on the injury report and active/inactive list.  On Sunday morning (remember you can swap out players right up until kickoff), if Fauria is a no go and Calvin is still not 100%, slap Ebron in at TE and use any extra salary cap room to upgrade at another position.  It could be your road to a $1,000,000 victory.

If it all comes to pass, remember that little puppy and make a nice donation to your local animal shelter.

Remember to check back to FFChamps for all forms of Daily Fantasy help and advice throughout the week.

Hit me up on twitter or facebook (see the links below) if you have any questions.  I am happy to help you take home a million dollars.

Good Luck!!!!

How Deion Sanders Can Help You Win A Million

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

NFL Network Analyst stirred the pot a bit earlier this week, quoting anonymous sources to proclaim that SF 49ers HC Jim Harbaugh and the players are "not on the same page" and that the players want him out. Harbaugh strongly refuted the reports saying, "Personally, I think that's a bunch of crap" and questioning the integrity of using anonymous sources.

Harbaugh and the 49ers got a much needed win Sunday at home vs. Philadelphia 26-21, evening their record at 2-2 on the year. Up next for SF, they welcome the KC Chiefs into Levi's Stadium on Sunday for a 4:25 pm kickoff. The Chiefs, coming off their strong performance in dominating the NE Patriots 41-14 on MNF, are set up for the proverbial letdown game. Rumors have been swirling on Michigan's interest in Harbaugh for their HC slot and vice versa. Several 49ers players have spoken up in defense of their HC, sounds like a locker room that just wants to take care of business and tune out the noise. Several factors in play here, the SF 49ers present several intriguing options as you build your ONE MILLION DOLLAR lineup:

  • QB Colin Kaepernick, $7,800. The dual-threat QB is coming off of a strong game vs. Philly, will look to keep it rolling this week.
  • RB Frank Gore, $5,200. Does this man age? The more they try to phase him out, the harder he runs.
  • WR Anquan Boldin, $4,400. Pay attention to the injury reports, if WR Michael Crabtree misses any time with his foot issue, Boldin will be set up to receive even more targets.
  • TE Vernon Davis, $4,900. Another injury concern due to back spasms, if he's a go he presents a strong option at this price point.
  • DST 49ers, $3,500. Not the same as they have been in the past, the unit can still put together a solid performance and create some turnovers.

SF is currently listed as a 6 1/2 point favorite with an o/u of 44 1/2. Expect Harbaugh and the 49ers to look to silence the noise and come out with a strong persormance.
