Five Schools That Could Make a Run at Hugh Freeze

The nation has fallen in love with the State of Mississippi and its two most prominent schools, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Looking at both schools, Dan Mullen has become the hot name, the one the media expects to get huge offers from major universities looking for the “it” guy to change the schools’ fortunes and to kick things up a notch.

The school most associated with a potential move from running the Bulldogs program is the Florida Gators, based on his ties to Urban Meyer and the spread offense he taught to some guy names Tim Tebow. While it appears Mullen has become the new James Franklin of college football, there is this guy over at the “Land of Manning” who is doing pretty well himself.

Meet Hugh Freeze – the man who has brought back the Rebels program since the days when Manning was walking the campus as the BMOC – that’s Eli Manning to you and me.

Freeze has been a part of the Ole Miss program since 2011 and has helped to once fledgling program on the map with solid recruiting and a philosophy the players have bought into.

Could it be Freeze the schools run to after the season, especially if the Rebels win The Egg Bowl and challenge for a national title?

Here are five teams that could come running after Mr. Freeze.

FLORIDA

Here is why this works. Mullen may be the one some of the Gator Nation want, but Jeremy Foley is not keen on hiring someone connected to Urban Meyer. Freeze is a solid choice and would give the fans in The Swamp something to cheer about.

MIAMI

The Hurricanes looked good beating Virginia Tech and Frank Beamer. Al Golden is the hot and cold coach in college football. One minute his team looks good with a freshman at quarterback. But the Hurricanes program has too much talent to be this mediocre.

ARIZONA

Rich Rodriguez will get some string consideration at other programs (Miami?). Freeze is a fresh face and the Pac 12 is made up of young talented coaches who preach the gospel. Freeze walks into a solid situation with the Wildcats and could pick up where Rich Rod left off.

MICHIGAN

Brady Hoke is playing out the string in Ann Arbor. There is a strong feeling Jim Harbaugh may return to his alma mater and run the ship. There may be other NFL teams that call on Harbaugh (Miami, Oakland) before he takes another shot at the college game. This would be a “Franklin-like” move.

SOUTH CAROLINA

The theory behind this is pretty simple. There are rumors around the Internet that the Ol’ Ball Coach may consider a trip back to Florida to finish what he started. If that is the case, the Gamecocks are going to need a replacement. Freeze would be a solid coach.

Fantasy Predictions: Did They Make You Money?

Last week I made predictions on who was a sure fantasy stud. Hit on a few, missed on a few more. Below is how they faired.

WRs who were sure to light up the box score:

Antonio Brown - 5 Rec 84 Yards

Victor Cruz - 3 Rec 22 Yards. Eli threw to 7 different receivers while Preston Parker led the team in receiving. Oops.

Steve Smith - 5 Rec 34 Yards. Hmm

Kelvin Benjamin - 3 Rec 38 Yards. Umm

Julio Jones - 11 Rec 105 Yards. Endzone Julio?

TY Hilton - 9 Rec 90 Yards. TY is warming up.

Value WRs who were going to tear it up:

Golden Tate - 7 Rec 134 Yards 1 TD. Nailed one.

Andrew Hawkins - 3 Rec 26 Yards. Hoyer throws for 290 yards and 3 TD and Andrew Hawkins saw none of it.

Brandin Cooks - 9 Rec 56 Yards. If you're in a PPR league you aren't too mad at me.

What running backs were going to run wild?

DeMarco Murray - 192 total yards. Easy.

Le'Veon Bell - 118 total yards. He doesn't like finding the end zone this year.

Rashad Jennings - 10 Car 55 yards. Injured in the 3rd quarter. Rookie Andre Williams ended up with 65 yards and a TD. Could have been a big day for Jennings.

Matt Forte - 166 total yards 1 TD. Welcome back Matt.

Doug Martin - 74 total yards. Should be improving every week.

Value back in a week to week fantasy league

Chris Ivory - 9 Car 44 yards. He was the only Jet who participated last week.

What defense will give you more than 10 points this week?

The Detroit Lions. Yes Sir! Pick 6, 3 sacks, 3 FF.

Horrible, No Good Tony Romo Will Make You A Millionaire This Week

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

It is only $27 to enter the Millionaire Maker fantasy football contest this week. First place gets $1 Million in cash, second place is $100,000 in cash and 15,500 contestants (1 out of 6) will win money.

In the Millionaire Maker fantasy football contest this week, you draft your lineup with a $50,000 virtual budget. All contestants are selecting from the same pool and all players can be used by all contestants. You can change your lineup all the way up until Sunday Kickoff. It takes less than one minute to sign up and about five minutes to draft your lineup.

In that lineup, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is a man that you may want to include in Week 5. Over the course of this article, I will highlight why that ludicrous idea could win you the million dollar prize.

Opponent

The Houston Texans, on paper, may look like a tough matchup for Dallas. While the game could be close throughout, Romo should be able to have a good day. So far this season, the Houston defense has faced Robert Griffin III in his first week in a new offense, Derek Carr, and EJ Manuel. The team won all three of those contests.

In their one loss, the Texans went up against Eli Manning. While Eli is by no means a top tier quarterback, he is definitely a class or two ahead of the previously mentioned players. Romo will be the best signal-caller they have faced so far this year, so we will see the true colors of Houston’s defense in Week 5.

Murray Needs a Break

DeMarco Murray is on pace to carry the football 396 times this season, which would be 179 times more than his previous career-high. At some point, the 26-year-old will need a break. As he gets less carries, Romo will have to throw the ball a few more times per game.

I do not expect to see Murray getting 25+ touches again this week, so that means it will be Romo’s turn to make some plays. Even if they decide to go with the ground and pound again, Manning put up over 20 fantasy points against the Texans in Week 3, while throwing just 28 passes.

Salary

Most of the NFL’s top fantasy quarterbacks have a Draft Kings salary around eight-to-nine thousand dollars in Week 5. Tony Romo, on the other hand, barely cracks the top 15, with a salary of just $7,000. Taking him, and saving a grand or two in the process, will allow you to stack up at another position.

Hot Streak

In his past two games, Romo has thrown five touchdown passes and just one interception. He completed nearly 80 percent of his passes in both affairs and will be entering Week 5 with a lot of confidence.

He threw 29 passes a week ago for 262 yards and three touchdowns. Expecting similar numbers this weekend would not be asking for too much. I would take just under 30 points from the 15th-ranked Draft Kings quarterback in a heartbeat.

5 RBs $5,500 And Less To Make You One Million Dollars Richer

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

It's almost here -www.FFChamps.com/million - there's still time to get your lineups in but kickoff is fast approaching. Signup is easy, you will construct the best roster you can under the $50,000 salary cap and make your Sunday even more enjoyable. There are endless ways you can choose your team and plenty of options for each position, the possibilities can be overwhelming. What do you do when you just don't have enough space to fit in all the players you want?

Value shopping will take you far in tournaments such as this one - www.FFChamps.com/million. Some get mesmerized by all the higher priced options and can't move past them. If you take the time to go through each position at the lower salary ranges, you'll be surprised at what you can sometimes find. This week, there are several such players at the RB question that present a tremendous value opportunity. In the interest of saving you some time, here are 5 RBs, all at $5,500 or less to help you build your team:

  • Rashad Jennings, NYG $5,500. Jennings has been receiving a huge workload for Big Blue, with 81 rushing attempts and 11 targets through the air. Their opponent this Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons, have given up some huge games on the ground this year.
  • Frank Gore, SF $5,200. The more they try to limit his workload, the harder he runs. 174 combined yards vs. Philly last week, may be entering one of his zones. The Chiefs are coming in off their MNF mauling of the Pats, expect them to come back to earth.
  • Darren Sproles, PHI $5,100. A steal for the Eagles and a steal at this price. Brings more to the table than Lesean McCoy has this year and a whole lot cheaper, he's golden on a full PPR site.
  • Bishop Sankey, TEN $4,700. Expected to receive a bigger workload going forward, won't be long before he's the clear #1. 5.1 yard rushing average in limited action, time to take the training wheels off.
  • Ahmad Bradshaw, IND $4,000. Also golden for full PPR sites, Bradshaw has hauled in 4 TDs through the air thus far. A multi-purpose back at a bottom barrel price.

Take advantage of the pricing inefficiencies that are in front of you each week. These 5 RBs are affordable and should produce, freeing up valuable salary cap space to use elsewhere. Someone is taking home One Million Dollars - www.FFChamps.com/million, get your lineups in and get in the running. Good luck!

5 QBs Under $6,000 That Could Make You One Million

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

The 1pm kickoffs can't come fast enough and this week is especially exciting - www.FFChamps.com/million. Someone is walking away with One Million Dollars for playing Fantasy Football. An incredible time to be a fan and Fantasy Player, this is a huge opportunity to make some serious cash doing something you love.

Roster construction can take many forms. You can use a balanced approach, allocating the 50k salary cap pretty evenly across positions. You could load up on stud RBs and find value elsewhere, or perhaps big time WRs are your thing. The possibilities are endless, and that just adds to the enjoyment and excitement. No matter which strategy you choose, it's critical to nail your QB. A horrible day from your QB almost certainly spells disaster.

Some people like safety in their QB and who can blame them. Consistent production and a shot at a great day can be a winning recipe. On the other hand, spotting a value priced QB who may be a little risky could provide the upside you need to separate your roster from the rest. Either way, find your comfort zone and choose the QB you think gives you the best shot at taking it down. For those that are willing to take their chance at greatness with an against the grain QB, we present 5 inexpensive QBs to take a look at:

  • Austin Davis, Stl. $5,600. The Rams travel to Philly for a game they will probably lose. However, consider a few factors in play here: 1. Davis was just named starter for remainder of year, should boost the confidence. 2. The Rams are coming off the bye. Rough start for the Rams, but HC Jeff Fisher has had some extra time to get the house in order. 3. The Eagles have allowed 10 TDs through the air so far, if they are up as expected it could bode well for Davis and the passing game.

  • Ryan Fitzpatrick, Hou. $5,500. Fitz and the Texans travel to Dallas this week. The Cowboys have actually played better than expected on D of late, but can still be beat through the air - 8 TDs allowed on the year. A 47 o/u, Fitz may have some time to throw if the 'Boys key in on stopping Arian Foster and the running game.

  • Mike Glennon, TB. $5,500.Everyone is expecting the Bucs to get killed when they play the Saints, and they very well may. On the other hand, the Saints D has been a shell of what it was last year. An o/u of 48 and the Saints a 10 point favorite could be pointing to a lot of yardage for Glenning and co. as they play catch up.

  • Brian Hoyer, Cle. $5,200. Has held off Johnny Manziel so far and brings a 97.5 QB rating into the game. Not going to set the world on fire, but the Titans are coming off giving up 393 yards and 4 TDs to Andrew Luck and the Colts. Hoyer is no Luck on this or any other planet, but could make a little noise at a cheap price.

  • Drew Stanton, AZ. $5,000. Statement game for the Cards as they travel to Denver to face the Broncos. Both teams are coming in off their bye week for a late afternoon kickoff. An o/u set at 48, this one could be pretty entertaining and the Cards could surprise some folks.

Plenty of options on the board, all the way from high-priced studs to low cost value plays. Choose the startegy you feel best with, get your lineups in - www.FFChamps.com/million - and good luck!

The $9,400 QB-WR Combo That Could Make You Rich

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

The Tennessee Titans host the Cleveland Browns this week, a game currently sitting at a 44 o/u with the Titans a 2 point favorite. Cleveland is coming in off of their bye week, while Tennessee tries to stem the tide from 3 straight losses.

Titans QB Jake Locker looks like a go after sitting out Week 4 due to a wrist injury. Locker has not played well this year, throwing for 3 TDs against 4 picks with a 70.8 QB rating. Perhaps the week off will inspire better play from the fourth year pro. Locker's salary for this week is set at $5,700, towards the bottom of the pack for this week's Millionaire Maker - www.FFChamps.com/million.

Locker's teammate, WR Justin Hunter, has also been disappointing to open the year. A preseason darling, Hunter has hauled in only 9 of his 27 targets for 138 yards and 0 TDs. Hunter has far too much talent, could this be the breakout week many have been anticipating? At $3,700, he'll free up a lot of salary cap space.

Cleveland sits at 1-2 on the year, and have been burned for a 100+ yard receiving performance in each game:

  • Wk 1 - PIT WR Antonio Brown - 5/116/1
  • Wk 2 - NO TE Jimmy Graham - 10/118/2
  • Wk 3 - CAR WR Steve Smith Sr. - 5/101/0

While Hunter is not at the level of the above 3, he presents an intriguing option. A low-priced QB-WR combo frees up a ton of salary, allowing you to fill your roster with prime picks. We'll see if the time off put a little pep in the step of Mr. Locker.

Falcons Need Moore's Leadership, Make Roster Moves

William Moore may not be able to play football for the Atlanta Falcons because of his injury suffered in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but the defensive back is being counted on to lend a hand in the leadership of the secondary and the players brought in to help replace Moore and others on the injury list.

According to the Falcons website, the team made an announcement Tuesday that safety William Moore will miss significant time due to a shoulder injury. This was a jolt in more ways than one. Of course, he's proven productive during his six-year career, but in 2014, the defense was handed to him to lead.

With Sean Weatherspoon suffering a season-ending injury during OTAs, Moore took the reins and began to run with them. Now out for a minimum of eight weeks, Moore's presence and leadership will be a felt void in the defensive huddle.

Head coach Mike Smith spoke to Moore earlier Tuesday and impressed upon him how much the Falcons will still need to lean on him for help and guidance. Smith said he expects Moore to be present with the team every day during his recovery, in the film and meeting rooms, helping his teammates prepare for the games without him on the field.

"We're going to need his leadership, much like Sean," Smith said Tuesday. "Sean is with us in the meetings. We expect that William will do that, as well. He's designated to return, so he's a guy that's definitely going to be back before the season's over, so he's a guy that can help us win games."

Smith said second-year safety Kemal Ishmael will be the start in Moore's absence, and although Ishmael has played well in his limited time in 2014, Moore's presence off the field can be an asset to the young defensive player.

The team plays the Giants this week in New York. Atlanta lost to the Vikings while the Giants appeared to have found their offense last Thursday night against the Washington Redskins.

ROSTER MOVES MADE (ACCORDING TO ATLANTAFALCONS.COM)

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have placed center Joe Hawley and tackle Lamar Holmes on injured reserve and placed safety William Moore on injured reserve-designated to return. Atlanta signed safety Sean Baker, tackle Cameron Bradfield, and guard Harland Gunn to the active roster, in addition to signing safety Kimario McFadden and guard Adam Replogle to the practice squad.

Hawley, 6-3, 302 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. He has played in 57 games with 23 starts at both center and guard.

Holmes, 6-6, 333 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the third round (91st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has played in 20 games with 17 starts at both left and right tackle.

Moore, 6-0, 221 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the second round (55th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. In four-plus seasons as a starter, Moore has amassed 421 tackles (281 solo) with 3.5 sacks, 14 interceptions, and eight interceptions.

Moore's designation means that he can return to the practice field after six weeks and then return to the active roster after eight weeks.

Baker, 6-0, 209 pounds, was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a college free agent out of Ball State following the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent part of the 2013 season on the Falcons practice squad before being signed to the active roster for the season finale.

Bradfield, 6-4, 308 pounds, was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a college free agent out of Grand Valley State following the 2011 NFL Draft. He has played in 41 games with 27 starts seeing action at both guard and tackle. Last season, Bradfield played in a career-high 15 games with 11 starts at left tackle.

Gunn, 6-2, 310 pounds, was originally signed by the Cowboys as a college free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Falcons in 2012 and played in three games as a reserve offensive guard during the 2013 season.

5 Under-Priced Players That Will Make You A Millionaire This Week

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

It all comes down to price. In the real world and the world of DFS, pricing can be the ultimate tiebreaker. How can you fit everyone that you want under the $50k salary cap? Shop for the best deal.

Each and every week, there are players that are seemingly under-priced in relation to the value they provide. Use these pricing inefficiencies to your advantage, your opponents will be doing the same. Finding the value play for the week is key to taking down the big tourneys. This week for example, you have a shot at ONE MILLION DOLLARS -www.FFChamps.com/million. To take it down, you need to mix some high-upside value players into your squad. Here are 5 under-priced players to keep on your radar as you build your teams for the weekend:

  • NYG RB Rashad Jennings, $5,500. The Giants welcome the Atlanta Falcons to town this Sunday. The Falcons have struggled to defend the run, allowing 8 TDs through 4 games. Jennings has been receiving a heavy workload - 81/341/2 - and that should continue this week.
  • PHI RB Darren Sproles, $5,100. Sproles has been an absolute steal for the Eagles. Acquired in the offseason from the NO Saints for a 5th round draft pick, Sproles has thrived in Chip Kelly's offense. Doing damage on the ground - 18/121/2 - and through the air - 21/198/0 - Sproles will present quite the challenge for the St.Louis Rams this Sunday.
  • DEN WR Emmanuel Sanders, $5,100. Criminally underpriced in relation to his production, Sanders has been a PPR machine this year. Sanders is currently tied for 7th in the NFL in Receptions with 25 on 33 targets. Peyton Manning looks for him early and often, he has fit in quickly to the Broncos high-powered offense. The Broncs are coming off the bye and welcome Arizona to the Mile High City. A rested Peyton and one of his top targets? Sign me up!
  • CAR WR Kelvin Benjamin, $4,800. Benjamin is the focal point of the Panthers passing attack - 36/329/3. Big things are expected from the 6-5 wideout from FSU, outside of a Week 2 matchup with Detroit he has not disappointed. The Chicago Bears come calling this week and have struggled in the secondary, allowing 6 TDs on the year - 4 of them last week.
  • PIT WR Markus Wheaton, $3,300. Wheaton has flown under the radar due to the hot start of teammate Antonio Brown. The 2nd year pro is a viable play that receives a healthy workload - 19/227/0 on 26 targets. Pittsburgh is coming off of a disappointing 27-24 last-minute loss to the TB Bucs. Expect them to show up in Jacksonville with guns ablazing Sunday for a 1pm kickoff against the Jags and their troubled Defense.

Five under-priced gems to help you take down ONE MILLION DOLLARS - www.FFChamps.com/million. Get your lineups ready, Week 5 is going to be special.

The $5,600 QB Who Can Make You One Million Dollars

Do you play Fantasy Football? If the answer is yes, this week is the most exciting opportunity in the history of the game. Win a MILLION DOLLARS playing Fantasy Football this week only! Go to www.FFChamps.com/million and get in on the action.

St. Louis, coming off of their bye week, travels to Philadelphia this week for a 1pm tilt with the Eagles. The Rams have struggled to open the year, but they have shown some improvement since the opening week debacle against the Minnestoa Vikings (A 34-6 loss). After rebounding with a 19-17 win in Week 2 at Tampa Bay, the Rams had control over the Cowboys in Week 3 but were unable to hold the lead, resulting in a 34-31 loss.Philadelphia comes in at 3-1 and looks to rebound from their 26-21 Week 4 loss to the SF 49ers.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher announced today that QB Austin Davis will make his 3rd consecutive start. Since taking over the starting job from an injured Shaun Hill, Davis sports a solid 72.3 completion percentage and 93.1 QB rating. In Week 3, Davis put up a healthy 25.98 fantasy points - promising numbers for a QB on a struggling team. Philly has struggled defending the pass, allowing 1,030 yards and 10 TDs so far this year, including a monstrous 427 yards and 3 TDs surrendered to Washington QB Kirk Cousins in Week 3.

Currently, the Eagles are a 7 point favorite with an o/u of 47 1/2. Expect the Eagles to be up early and for Davis to get plenty of opportuinties to air it out. Presents an intriguing, low-cost and possibly under the radar option for this week as you look to take down ONE MILLION DOLLARS. www.FFChamps.com/million
